(Photo by Langlois) Committee discusses sewer work Engineers from Burns-Ross and representatives of Brussels council, the PUC, the contractors and Ian DesLaurier from the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority met in the old Brussels arena on . Thursday to discuss steps necessary to proceed with the construction of sewers. Sewer constructon was underway on Mill Street on Tuesday. ' The old arena is the headquarters for the engineers and contractors on the project. At the first meeting there was a problem concerning which lots were buildable ones along the riverfront as one of the first streets the contractor proposed to start working on was Mill Street which runs beside the river. Mr. DesLauriers wasn't sure about connection services to some vacant lots which, he thought weren't buildable because they are on the flood plain. Currently that area is in the Hurricane Hazel flood plain. The Ministry of the Environment would like to see that changed to the hundred year flood plain but that's a decision that has to be approved by council. The hundred year flood plain is where history has shown that a flood plain hasn't come up higher than a certain point in 100 years.
