delighting th audience, who kept de-

The residents of Brussels can look fotward
to torn-up streets and inconvience in the
months ahead. The hewer project is expected
to get underway this week. It would be
great, if when it is started, someone cou Id
wave a magic wand-and-presto- the job was
completed in a few days. Unfotunately that
is not how it is. It mean . months of torn up
streets and unsightly mess. We will just
have to think of the benefits of the sewage
system when all is completed, cope with the
problems meantime and try not to worry
about how much the system will increase our
taxes. Oh yes, there will be the cost of
connections also.

May being Family Unity Month in this
International Year of the Child, the Couples
Club of Melville Presbyterian and Brussels
United Church will present the film "A
Chain to be Broken", narrated by Artie
Johnson, in Melville Presbyterian Church on
Sunday, May 6th, at 7:30 p.m. There will
also be a slide shown on "Families are
Special". Mrs. Cathy Pryde nom Family and
Children's Services will be showing the film.
There is something for everyone in this film,
mom, dad, children and grandparents too.
Everyone will be welcome. Our Ontario
government reminds us that "the future of
our province depends on our children; the
future of our children depends onthe
strength of our families". Attend this film
and slide presentation. Family unity is not
now what it has been in the past. Perhaps
these will help to improve this very
important aspect of our lives.

School kids here got a holiday last Friday.
It was Professional Development Day for
teachers. Maybe that is what I need —
Professional Development Days. Perhaps it
would then be possible to come up with a
never-ending stream of interesting items to
fill this space each week. That wou'Ild be a
change from sitting at my desk with my mind
blank . My fingers running frantically
through my hair trying to stimulate a
sluggish brain into creative thinking. Have
you not noticed my constantly tousled head
look?

It seems that Canadians are not the only
ones who consider the Margaret Trudeau
book a tasteless unveiling of the
indiscretions of a so-called lady. At least a
judge in one country found it obnoicions. The
newspaper La Ra.on of B uenos Aires, has
been ordered by a judge to suspend
publication of excerpts from Beyond Season
because they violated public morals. The
newspaper said it Would appeal the ruling.
Too bad it had not been banned elsewhere.
The publishers of the book, and _newspapers
that printed excerpts, would of course,
Scream if it had. They saw it as "Cash in
their' COffers". No doubt it has been.
However much we deplore Beyond Reason
We read it out of curiosity.

Morris Township council decided to
raise the township's farm and residential
mill rate nine mills this year and the
business and commercial by about 10 mills

assessment on farm and residential would
have to pay about $80, more taxes. this year
than in 1978.
The new farm and residential rate will be
41.24 while last year's rate was 32.13 and
the new commercial rate will be 48.52 up
from last year's rate of 37.80.
The elementary school rate has also
increased from 30.65 last year to 34.67 this
year and the secondary school rate has gone
up from 26,66 to 27.41 this year.
Also increased this year were the county
