JOE WALKER 357-3558 Mrs. Carl Johnston in- stalled the officers for :1979-80 when the Women's Institute members met in the ,Bluevale United Church. The ;fleeting followed a delicious "dinner served by the .members of Unit Four. Mrs. Jim Armstrong is 'Past president of the group. ;The officers installed were; a3resident, Mrs. Charles Mathers, First Vice-Pre- sident, Mrs. Bert Garniss; Second Vice-President, Mrs. Murray Jenkins; Secretary, Mrs. Mel Craig; District Director; Mrs. Wendall Stamper, Alternate; Mrs. William Peacock; Branch directors; Mrs. William de Vos; Mrs. Alex MacTavish; Mrs. Soren Anderson; pianist; Mrs. Carl Johnston, nominating corn- mittee; Mrs. Armstrong; Mrs. Harry Elliott; Mrs. Mathers; Public relations officer, Mrs, Carl Johnston; Curators, Mrs. Donald Street, Mrs. A. D. Smith; Auditors, Mrs. Sparling Johnston, Mrs. Elliott. Mrs. Craig read the minutes, financial statement and cor- respondence. Three short courses were chosen by the members "Indoor Plants", "For the Goodness of .Your Heart" and "Knitting". Deleg ates to the District Annual are Mrs. de Vos, Mrs. Payne, Mrs. Carl Johnston and Mrs. Jim Johnston. It will be held in Fordwich on May 8 and Bluevale will be in charge of afternoon entertainment. Mrs. Mathers opened the annual meeting with a poem and Mrs. Craig read the minutes of last year's annual meeting and the financial statement. Reports of the auditors and standing com- mittees were the given. Mrs. Garniss thanked Mrs. Mathers for her duties as 'president during the past year and. Mrs. Mathers thanked all members for their pst co-operation. A meeting will be held April 23 at 8 p.m. at Mrs. Craig's home to plan the meetings for the coming year. The May meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Donald Street and members are asked to bring a friend. Roll Call will be "Name a kitchen utensil used in pioneer times but never used now." PERSONALS Rev. Robert H. Armstrong of Wingham conducted the communion service at Knox Presbyterian church on Sunday. Two new members were received by prof ession of faith, Susan Chapman and John Dorsch. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wright on the arrival of their son, Kevin Donald, born April 19 at the Wingham and District Hospital. Mrs. Wilbur Gannett of Toronto spent the weekend with her daughter, Mrs. Gordon Wright, Mr. Wright, Shari and Jeffrey. Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Fischer were Mr. and. Mrs. Kalvin Fischer, Mr .and Mrs. Jim. Moffatt,. After the scripture reading taken from Matthew 27, Anneka Paradys gave a short reading on Simon Cyrene. Thelma Cardiff combined her mes- sage with the theme "East- er" and the study of the women of the Bible was perused dealing with Mary Magdalene whose name appears 14 times in the scriptures who was the first person to proclaim the "Resurrection." Tickets were distributed to the group captains for May- time Supper, May 16th. Any person. having unsold tickets is requested to report to Carol Innes by May 12th. At the May meeting the roll call is to be answered by each member bringing a tea towel.
