Bob Gibbons, a Goderich
businessman, wants to
build a $300,000 restaurant
on the Beach Street site.
However, before he can get a
building permit, Goderich
council must approve the
rezoning of the land from
industrial to commercial.
The proposed restaurant
site abuts Goderich Elevator
and Transit Co. Limited and
their grain handling
facilities. This company has
already indicated they will
oppose the restaurant on

asked to oppose a proposed
Goderich restaurant which
one of their committees feels
could interfere with farmers'

committee, chaired by
Gordon Hill of Varna, is
going to recomend that the
federation executive oppose
the resaurant, The issue of
the proposed restaurant.

corner of Harbour and Beach
Streets in Goderich, was
initially raised at the
grounds it would be in-
compatible to the area,
Gordon Hill, chairman of
the land use committee, said
the Goderich elevators pro-
vide a service to farmers both
as a source of livestock feed
and as a place to store their
grain for future shipment.
He said the Goderich,
elevators serve farmers in
Huron, Bruce, Grey, Middle-
sex and Perth counties.
The chairman added, "We
are not opposed to a re-
staurant. We are opposed to
a resta toe nt in this
location."

screenplays written for the

Me, has just been released in
paperback.
For many years, Mr.
Ustinov was married to the
French Canadian actress
Suzanne Cloutier.
However, the roles which
have made Mr. Ustinov most
familiar to audiences were
movie roles in Ben Hur, The
Sundowners, Spartacus,
In addition to his acting
and writing careers, Mr.
Ustinov has worked for
UNICEF for many years, and
in 1974 he was awarded
Warsaw's Order of the Smile
for his dedication to the idea
of international assistance of
children.

HARRY MeGUIRE
Harry L. McGuire, 85, of
Belgrave, died in Wingham
District Hospital on
December 24, after a lengthy
illness.
Mr, McGuire was the son
of the late Mary Ann Sowler
and William John McGuire
of Sullivan Township, Grey
County.j
Mr. McGuire is survived
by his wife, the former Carrie
May Stonehouse of Belgrave,
and four daughters,- Mrs.
Sam (Thelma) Pickett of Bel-
grave; Mrs. Norman (Lois)
Hill of Willowdale; Mrs.
Harold (Ruth) Cantelon of
Tweed and Mrs. Alan
(Audrey) MacKay of Wing-
ham.
l le is also survived by two
sisters, Mrs. Cecil (Violet)
Walpole of Point Clarke and
Mrs. Cecil (Ella) Mines of
Lockpe New York. Mr.
McGuir . was predeceased by
four brot.'ers and two sisters.
Mr. McGuire is also sur-
vived by 20 grandchildren
and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mr. McGuire, who attend-
ed Grey County . School,
farmed for many years,
operating a threshing and
hay presisng blsiness. In
later life he ran a saw
sharpening business until he
reitred in 1973. Mr. Mcguire
marrie dhis wife in Auburn in
1921. He was an active
member of Knox United
Church, Belgrave and a
member of the Order of
Foresters. He came to the
Belgrave district following

Festival has announced will
be appearing with the re-
sident company next sum-
mer.
Peter Ustinov, celebrated
The Stratford Festival has
announced that British actor
Peter Ustinov will play the
lead in the company's 1979
production of King Lear.
The play, a last minute
entry in the Festival's
schedule, will be directed by
artistic director Robin
Phillips, who is on a partial
sabbatical from the company
next year.
