WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD Christmas Sunday the Thames Road United Church service began with the choir proceeding up the aisle and everyone singing O Come All Ye Faithfyl. Mr. Ross Hargreaves lit the 4th candle. The First Advent Sunday candle was white; the coming of Christ, Reminds us that God sent us His light. The Second Avent Candle purple; for repentence. That at the heart of Christmas is a gift, God*himself to us. The Third Avent Candle: green symbol of Hope “the Spirit of God is upon me.” regenerating Hope to a lost World. The Fourth Advent Can dle: red reminds of the pr- sence of Jesus Christ. He is the Christ who liberates us for living Sunday was the last Sunday of Advent we seek this, it is found in the words John 3 and 16. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have O/cf fashioned Christmas as many everlasting life.” Red is the symbolic colour of the Spirit. It also signifies martyrdom. It reminds us that although Jesus was crucified God gave Him victory over, death, and nbow he is free in His spirit to be with us. The same connonation can be‘ found in this that true presence Red is a token of His love. The brightness of the fourth Advent candle together call us to repond in Gratitude to the light and love, gifts and joy given to us this Christmas time: in birth of a Child.
