McCurdy Christmas is waking up in the middle of the night and watching Santa trying to get down the chimney. Christmas is lighting one of your mother’s best can dles and when it is all burnt down your mother comes home and kills you. Christmas is a time when you meet people you have never met in a long time. Christmas is getting out of school early. Yeh! Christmas is hoping your snowman will come alive. Christmas is a bright yellow star. Christmas is when Grandma and Grandpa come over Christmas is the best time of year. Christmas is finding coal or something you hate in your stocking. Christmas is a time to give gifts and at the same time spend money. Christmas is when your class has a Christmas draw and you get a girl’s name and you don’t know what to buy her. Christmas is a large green Christmas tree with many gifts under it and they’re all for you Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Christmas is being one of Santa’s a nlay. Christmas is ripping your sister’s dolls arm off and taking her candy. Christmas is writing Christmas stories. Christmas is sneaking downstairs and watching mom and dad kissing under the mistletoe. Going Outside In The Winter BY SUSAN McCLURE Grade 8 Stephen Central Have you ever tried to get a three year old ready to go outside? Perhaps you were babsitting or home with your kid brother. First you have to find his outdoor clothing, which was thrown everywhere after the last excursion. The snowsuit goes on without any problem, except the zipper get’s caught on his shirt, Then come the boots; are you supposed to wear shoes in them? Oh no. You tug and pull until there on, then you find they are on the wrong feet! The hat goes on but seems a bit high on the forehead. Ah, here’s the problem; on backwards. The scarf your sister knit is tied on and you pray it doesn’t unravel. Now comes the tough part, mittens. The child just won’t co-operate. '‘Now just push, please." Just as one goes on the other is shaken off. After threats,' bribes and pleadings they’re both on, at last. You get dressed, won dering when, if ever he’ll be able to dress himself, while he complains of the heat. The door is open and you’re ready to go when Junior pipes up with, “I gotta go to the bathroom.” Iggy: Just A Small Reindeer, He? deer. The other laughed and laughed about his ice gripped feet. The little deer said, "I went and saw Santa, he said in a spunky way I couldn’t go out on the big trip tonight. Comet said you wouldn’t even get around the coner with those feet. They kept on taunting him and taunting him, about his feet. Blizten exclaimed, “Let’s call him Iggy the ice gripped foot reindeer. The little reindeer went out beside Santa’s red sliegh he said to himself why couldn’t I be like my brother Rudolf with the Red Nose? Just then the bell rang it was time to go on the big ride. Just then it started to rain and was very slippery, but Iggy had no trouble at all. Santa was ready to go, and he slipped and fell. He called over Iggy, he attached him to the front of the sliegh. They got all around the world. The next day Iggy was offically named the non-skid rein deer. Or Is BY BRENDA THOMPSON Grade 6 Exeter P.S. One snowy day a little reindeer came to Santa and said “Santa may I come with you on that special night?” “No. little one you are too small, next year,” said Santa, “Nextyear.” The tiny reindeer went off out into the stable with the other rein- Santa To The Rescue BY PAUL LOVE Room 3 Stephen Central We were flying at 10,000 feet over the North Pole when we ran into some turbulence. I tried to keep our 747 steady but could not. The fourth and second engines died and then we began to lose altitude. My co pilot spotted an open ice bay and I decided to attempt a landing. The last thing I remember was hitting the ice and lossing consciousness. When I woke up I was looking straight into a white beard. I heard a loud Ho lHo Ho and then sat up straight. "It must be a dream’’ I said. “No”, said Santa, “you are in my toy factory.” “But what about my 300 passengers?” I asked. “They are safe and are on their way to Toronto International Airport on my eight reindeer passenger sleigh.” “Oh” said I and the Santa winked at me. “How would you like to help me deliver toys tonight?” “Swell,” I answered him. “Good, I’ll finally have someone to open the front door for me. I always had to go down the chimney before." So that was how I, George Prescott, became Santa’s middle man. Christmas Is Holidays BYSHELLEYTOMES Grade 5 J.A.D. Santa Claus was getting packed for delivering his presents to every good girl and boy. As he was doing this with his elves he had the radio on listening to the weather forecast. The wind and snow started to Christmas Time BY PAUL KINSMAN Grade 8 Stephen Central Christmas is a time for joy and love, and to remember who was born on this day. He is Jesus Christ. He was the man who spread the word of God too all people. Christ mas is were families get together and and to have fun opening presents. The joy of Christmas is to give and recieve. Some people don’t believe in Christmas, they say it is foolish and waste money. I think of it as being the person who cares for others makes others happy.
