The Candy Makers
BY IRENE BRAND
Stephen Central
Dashwood Hydro Electric Commission Centralia church ladies
hold special festive event
They decided they would
give each child a picture of
all tile elves, Santa, Mrs.
Claus and the reindeers each
for the 100 children which
didn’t get candy-canes.
On Christmas day when
those 100 children looked in
their stocking they really
were surprised at what they
got instead of candy-canes
and wished they had gotten
this a long time ago.
on;On the first of December
all the elves and Mrs. Claus
gathered in the kitchen to
talk over the Christmas plan.
This plan was the one of all
the Christmas candy they
were going to make for the
children.
They had planned to get
the ingredients for the
candy-canes, cookies with
different flavors and
squares. The ingredients
were to be at their place by
December 5.
Mrs. Claus was to get the
ingredients when she went
shopping and then they
would be all ready to start to
be finished the night before
Christmas.
Mrs. Claus went shopping
on the fourth of December
and brought back all the
things they needed to make
the goods. When the elves
were making the candy
canes the kitchen air was
filled with a sweet smell. The
elves then made the cookies
and following that they made
the squares.
By December the twenty-
second all the treats were
ready except 100 candy
canes, Mrs. Claus would
have to go and get some
more ingredients at the
store. When she got there
there the store was closed
and she couldn’t go back on
the 24th because those days
the store was closed all day.
She told the elves this but
they all just stared because
the first time she went she
didn’t get enough ingredients
for the candy-canes, which
she should have.
The elves didn’t know what
to do about the situation they
were in. Many times they
tried to think of a store that
might have the special
ingredients for the candy
canes but they knew that
only one store did. And that
was the store which was
closed.
What Is
Christmas To Me
BYLORISHOEBOTTOM
J.A.D. McCurdy
Christmas is the time of
year,
When Jesus came to earth.
And all the people from
miles around
Came to celebrate his birth,
Earth is the place where
Jesus came
To save us from our sins
He came to help the blind
and to cure lame
And also our many kins.
I At Christmas, a special prayer:
| May mankind be blessed with “Peace on
I Earth.” And a special wish: May
| your personal Christmas be a most happy one

Chester The Long Ear Donkey
KELLY VANKERKOERLE
St. Patrick’s
Once upon a time there
was a boy named Joshua. He
owned a Donkey named
■> Chester. Chester was an old
and Grumpy Donkey. He did
not work at all.
One day the Mayor and the
Vice-President came for
inspection. That means they
were checking to see if the
animals were proper.
Chester had a long ear so he
was kicked out of the barn.
Chester walked a long way
to town, there he met Mary
and Joseph. Mary asked
Chester, “Can I ride on you
to Bethlehem?” Chester
said, “yes.”
So they walked and walked
until they came to
Bethlehem. And there
Chester saw how Jesus was
