LUCAN Funeral for Mrs. Kilmer The funeral and interment service for the late Con stance Elizabeth (Marley) Kilmer, widow of Louis A. Kilmer, was held at the Haskett Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon with the Rev. Keith Brown of Lucan United Church officiating. Mrs. Kilmer was a long time resident of this area, residing with her husband on their farm on the 2nd con. of McGillivray twp. for many , years. Following their retirement they lived in Lucan on Lewis Street, before moving to Thamesford for a few years. However, as their hearts were in this community, they acquired a home at the corner of Richmond and Main Streets where they resided until the death of Mr. Kilmer in 1968. Mrs. Kilmer sold her home and moved to London to live with her daughter and son- in-law, Mr. & Mrs. John Houston and their family. Five years ago when Mr. Houston was transferred to Toronto, Mrs. Kilmer moved with them, but three years ago she was hospitalized with a cerebral hemorrage and has been a patient at the Mississauga Extendicare until suffering a recent heart attack. As well as Mrs. Houston, Mrs. Kilmer is survived by a J son, William, of Toronto, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Born”. The traditional Christmas story was acted out by one of the junior classes under Mrs. Tony Markus and Mrs. Brown’s juniors led by Mrs. David Park held a teaching session explaining the word “Magi” and the meaning of their gifts, ending their presen tation by singing “We Three Kings”. Mrs. Don Coughlin’s Intermediate classpresented’ another version of the Christmas Story with recorded carols. Mrs. A. Jones sang “0 Come, Emmanuel as introduction to the Adult Class play when Wesley Stanley, acted very well the part of “Martin the Shoemaker” with Mrs. Ivan Hearn as Narrator and Jim Robertson as the voice of Jesus. It was a delightful closing number. Mrs. Jones also sang a different arrangement of “0 Come All Ye Faithfull”. The classes assembled in the choir stalls and on the pulpit platform for two closing choruses, led by Mrs. Bannerman, and Rev. Keith Brown invited all to meet with Santa in the lower hall and pronounced the Benediction. Helen Brown was the excellent pianist for the evening. Ladies Guild elects officers Members of Holy Trinity Anglican Sunday School presented their Christmas concert during the church service Sunday. The Nursery class representing trees sang a song describing how trees grow and a second one using bells. The next age group each held a letter representing Christmas and had a little verse to repeat, eg. “C” is for the Christ child, etc. The last age group, in costume acted out the Nativity Story, singing suitable carols. Following the closing carol and prayers by Rev. John Hofland, all those present retired to the low-r hall for lunch and disc ibution of candy bags to the children. News from United Church On the third Sunday of Advent in Lucan United Church, Rev. Keith Brown told his congregation that Jesus is called by many names “Prophet, Priest and King”. Last week the name Prophet was dealt with and this Sunday Mr. Brown spoke on “Jesus, Our Great High Priest”. A priest provided access to God, as the peoples’ representative to God and through sacrifices, at the time of the Israelites, asked God’s forgiveness for their sins. Our sins were taken away by the personal sacrifice of God’s son, on the cross, the temple veil was rent asunder and because of this, we are permitted, by Christ’s death, to go personally to God. Let us always remember and practise oubpriesthood unto God, serving honouring and glorifying God, to. represent Him personally to all mankind. The flowers in the Sanc tuary were from the funeral of the late Mrs. Louis Kilmer (Connie). The love and prayers of the congregation are extended to her family. This morning, Thursday, at 9:45 the Prayer and Share Fellowship meets in the C.E. Wing. All women’ are welcome. Next Sunday, December 24, Christmas Sunday, a family service will be held at 11:15 with special music. Come and bring the family. At 7 p.m. a Christmas .eve carol. and scripture service will take place including both Clandeboye and Lucan members, and friends will be welcome. Come and enjoy the blessing with us.
