Mrs. Ray Mills as organist was accompanied on the piano by Penny Smith. Nancy and Mary Lou Tindall played their clarinets; Essery, the guitar; Heywood, accordion Doug Gill, the violin. The offertory music an organ and piano duet by Mrs. Ray 'Mills and Penny Smith. Mr. Paul Schott in his sermon reminded his listeners that the true spirit of Christmas must grow in our own hearts and minds. This coming Sunday the choir under the leadership of Douglas Gill will present the Cantata “Following Yonder Star” at the morning service, In the evening there will be a combined Christmas Eve service at 8 o’clock. family. HARRY SHEPPARD PARKHILL About 60 folks attended the Hodgins & Hayter annual banquet at the “Old Mill,” Saturday evening. After­ wards a social time was enjoyed at the shop. With slides being shown by Allan Hayter on their ditching equipment, etc. An award was presented to Mr. Wayne Desjardine by Mrs. Norm Hodgins for ten years of service with the firm . All staff received a turkey for Christmas. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Bruce Harmer on their 60th wedding anniversary. “Open House” was held at the United Church for relatives and friends Saturday afternoon followed -by a family dinner in basement at night. A Christmas Picture Very early Christmas morning the children sneak downstairs. They go quickly down. They look around. First they look in their stockings. ; Their Dad is coming down. He is getting the camera. He takes a picture of me getting a gun. 'Lisa had a picture of her getting a doll. Bradley got a picture with a racing set. Brenda had some jewellry. We got lots of things! \j k't- ■fwllJ Uv J■pr | A Peek At Santa Clause Seniors entertained The Christmas spirit was in evidence at the Com­ munity Centre Monday when United Church Women en­ tertained Senior Citizens to a delicious Christmas dinner followed by an afternoon of crokinole and cards. Prizes were awarded for the lucky plate; and to the lady and gentleman whose birthday was closest to Christmas. Euchre party There were nine tables in play at the euchre party in the Community Centre Monday night with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dickins and Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Mac­ donald in charge. Prize winners were, - Ladies high score, Mrs. Ethel Schroeder; lone hands, Mrs. Rose Broderick; low, Mrs. Albert1 Smith. Men’s high, Lawrence Hirtzel; lone hands, Roy Swartz; low, Mrs. Lyle Simpson (playing a man’s card.) The prize for the lucky cup was won by Mrs. Jean Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. We get lots of presents. Sometimes my Mom and Dad get up at 5:00 and they never wake me up. Hike to sneak downstairs sometimes. One Christmas morning I went downstairs and I wanted a cookie and Santa Claus saw me. I would like to do that again. It was fun. Personals Bernard Rimmer has been a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter for the past week. We wish him a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kooy attended the Canadian Canners banquet and dance Saturday evening at the Legion Hall in Exeter.
