HEBER PAVIS Sunday afternoon the con­ gregation of St. Patrick's Church gathered in the Parish Hall for the Sunday School Christmas party. Mrs. Hazel Davis acted as M.C. in the absence of Rev. Mary Mills due to road con­ ditions. Each of the following youngsters took part in the programme: Nancy and Marylou Tindall provided music for the carol singing, Brenda Carroll a reading, Robbie and Jennie Gee a duet, Tracy Quinton, Tom and Odis Quinton, Kim, Pam, Derek and Debbie Greenlee and Lisa and Julie Caroil all took part in sing­ ing Christmas songs. Jolly old Santa made his yearly visit with gifts for the Sunday School pupils. The ladies provided refreshments. Personals Mrs. Heber Davis, Alexia Tindall and Marguerite Greenlee visited Mrs. Flossy Dickens at the McCormick home, London Wednesday afternoon and attended the Christmas par­ ty for the residents and friends. We are sorry to report Mrs. Wayne Carroll is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Mrs. Douglas presided and after opening with the Institute Ode and Mary Stewart Collect, read a Irish Prayer. Seventeen members answered the roll call with a Christmas Wish, Mrs. Russell Worden told a past event of the W.I. recalling a picnic at Grand Bend in the early forties. During business a donation was made to the Childrens Aid Christmas basket fund. Circle II is in charge of the January 17 card party in the township hall. Mrs. Worden told mem­ bers how to prepare them­ selves for the festive season adn demonstrated how candles could be used ef­ fectively and decoratively around the home at Christmas time.' Everyone contributed to the program with a item pertaining to Christmas. Mrs. Robert McCoughey played a number of Christmas carols which everyone enjoyed. Gifts brought for a nursing home are to be taken to Riverside this year. Secret Pal gifts were exchanged and pals revealed. Sixteen attendance seals and diplomas were presented by the superintendent. The Rev. Harley Moore explained the meaning of the many symbols of the Chris­ tian faith. During this time, the children decorated a Chrismon Tree with the symbols which they had made, culminating with everyone present, giving their White Gift offering for those in the world less for­ tunate. Friends of Albert Romphf will be pleased to know he has progressed favorably in St, Joseph’s Hospital, Lon­ don following surgery, and is expected back shortly at Chateau Gardens, Parkhill. John Smithers and Brian Bullock of U.W.O. are home for the Christmas vacation. By the way: When the hus­ band exclaimed, “I’ve just discovered oil on our proper­ ty!" his wife exclaimed, “Wonderful! Now we can get a new car for Christ­ mas’” “No, he responded, “we’d better get the old one fixed. Auxiliary meets Mrs. Jean Carey hosted the Marion Ritchie Evening Auxiliarys Christmas meeting at her home, Tuesday evening with 14 members and 4 visitors present. Mrs. Carey presided and opened with a poem the Way to see Christmas. Roll Call was answered with a Christmas verse and your favourite carol with all joining in singing a verse. Mrs. Norman Harburn gave the scripture, reading 'from Psalm 47, vqrses 1 to 9, followed by prayer by Mrs. Carey. A piano instrumental by Kathy Norris was enjoyed followed by a recitation “A Christmas Mouse” with Mrs. Ivan Norris Karen and Hugh participating. Mrs. Loreen Hamilton chose as her topic a paper on the Spirit of Christmas. During the business members were reminded of the annual meeting of the Presbyterial in St. Andrews church, Stratford, January 9. It was agreed to begin quilting in January. Mrs. Eldon Allen read two poems “Christmas is a good excuse” and “Christmas comes but once a yekr'and the meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer. The annual meeting followed with reports given by all, showing a very satisfactory year with all commitments realized.
