Entertainment was provided by Mr. Nelson Howe and a social time enjoyed by all. Lodge distributes boxes The C.P.T. MMl Just Arrived for Year-End Deliveries Hensail couple celebrate 50 years Sherwoods trounce College aggregation In their only start of the week, the Hensall Sherwoods pounded Cen­ tralia 11-5 in a game played Thursday in Hensall. Leading the way for the Sherwoods was Steve Knight with a hat-trick. The Sherwoods jumped into a 1-0 lead as Wayne Corbett scored an unassisted goal with less than five minutes elapsed in the period. Three minutes later Cen­ tralia tied the game up as Mark Cronyn scored from Ron Funston and Paul Theander. Hensall came back to score three consecutive goals with Alan Taylor scor­ ing from Dwight Consitt and Bill Chipchase. Fred Campbell than scored two goals less then six minutes apart with help from Chipchase and Brian Campbell. The Sherwoods final goal of the period came as Taylor scored from Consitt and Gary Kyle. In the second period, Hen­ sall added to their lead as Knight scored the first of his three goals. Brian Campbell assisted. Centralia got that one back as Ron Funston scored from brother Rick and Cronyn. Knight then scored to up the margin to 7-2 for the Sherwoods. Assisting once again was Brian Campbell. The final goal of the | period came at the 17:39 mark as Centralia’s Ron Funston beat Laurie Skinner in net for Hensall. Cronyn and Rick Funston assisted. In the final stanza, the home team out scored their opposition with Knight pick­ ing up his third goal of the game. Corbett added the assist. Once again, Centralia narrowed the margin Rick Funston scored an assisted goal at the minute mark. Hensall then scored final two goals of the game sandwiched around a Cen­ tralia marker. Larry Bourne took a pass from Rick Ingram and put one past Rick Snell in net for the Stephen township squad. Centralia’s final goal of the game came as Eldon McCutcheon took passes from Bill Hodge and John Muller and fired one past Skinner. Ingram picked up his se­ cond point of the evening as he scored with less than three minutes remaining. Bourne assisted. Ladies prepare bale for Angola Unit two of Hensall United Church met on Monday, with Mrs. Diane Gerstenkorn leading the meeting. She opened with a poem “Down the lane to Christmas.” Miss Mary Goodwin gave the devotional based on the Christmas story as found in the gospel of St. Matthew, followed by a reading, “Look at Christmas.” At the business session the Presbyterial Annual on January 30 in Exeter was brought to the attention of all and the meeting of the Hensall Executive oh January 3 at 7.30 p.m. Mrs. Gerstenkorn read the legend of the poinsettias' and af­ terwards she -was was presented with a gift in appreciation of her leadership and guidance during the last year. After closing the meeting, all helped to make tray favours for the patients at the Queensway Nursing Home and lunch was served by Mrs. Kay Mock and Mrs. Sadie Hoy. Mr. & Mrs. Perc Campbell celebrated their Fiftieth wedding anniversary at their home in Hensall on Friday, December 15. They were married at the Presbyterian Manse, Hensall and took up residence on the groom’s farm on the 2nd concession of Hay township. They have three children: a son Elmore in Toronto; Audrey, Mrs. Glenn Koehler of Hensall; Margaret, Mrs. Ray Consitt of Kippen; and nine grandchildren. ,A large number of relatives and friends called to wish them greetings. Serving were Mrs. Koehler, Mrs. Consitt, Mrs. Emore Campbell, Mrs. Charles Hay and Mrs. Wm. Rogerson. Their granddaughters Beth Consitt and Elizabeth Campbell were in charge of the register. A family dinner was enjoyed at the Zurich Hotel in the evening. Mrs. Campbell’s father Mr. Hugh Love formerly of Hensall attended the an­ niversary. Queensway news Recent visitors with residents at the Queensway Nursing Home were with Mrs. Louise Mitchell: Les Mitchell, Verna and Betty Coates, Robert and Barbara Mitchell and Mr. Finkbeiner. Keith and Doris Leonard of Willowdale visited Clara Featherston. Shirley Prouty of Exeter visited several residents. Joan Betteridge and Violet Bishop visited Irene Kalb- fleisch. Jessi and George Ingle, Brussels visited with Cora Alcock and Tena Hully. Mr. & Mrs. Richard Long visited the latter’s mother Mrs. Lou Weurth. Clara and Perc Johnston, Alvin Steckle, Joe Martin, Bill, Helen and Mark Taylor visited Russell Erratt. Rev. Mills conducted the church service with Mrs. Louise Mitchell ac­ companying at the piano. On Monday, December 11 the Zurich Mennonite Church Ladies residents, celebrated his December 13. Miss Agnes celebrate her December 26. Rev. Kenneth Knight conducts service The service in Carmel Presbyterian Church was conducted by Rev. Kenneth Knight on Sunday, the subject of his sermon was “Our King Is Here”. Miss Sandra Wadel favoured with two accordion solos “O Holy Night” and “Angels We Have Heard On High”. Mrs. Robert Taylor presided at the organ and accompanied the choir in the Anthem “All Poor Men and Humble” Mrs. Malcolm Dougall and Mrs. Edith Bell sang the duet. The poinsettia on the Communion table was a gift from the Queensway Nur­ sing Home. Personals Elmore Fragrances Campbell and family of Toronto were weekend visitors with the former’s parents Mr. & Mrs. Perc Campbell who celebrated their 50th wedding an­ niversary. Miss Dale Simmons of Toronto is spending the holidays with her parents Mr. & Mrs. Jack Simmons. Mrs. Rosa Harris who has been visiting with her son-in- law and daughter Mr. & Mrs. William Noakes left this week for Vancouver, B.C.
