McCurdy After supper Sally and George were watching the news on television. They were watching it for stories for current events that they were having in school in the morning. They were horrified by the news they heard. The an nouncer was saying that there had been a burglary at Santa’s Workshop and there Tyere no> toys left for Gpristmas. He ■ added, ‘‘‘•There will be no Christmas this year!" “No Christmas!’’ the children echoed. They decided to leave right away and help Santa at the North Pole. They told their parents they were going to help Santa solve a mystery. So they bundled up and took off on their dad’s snowmobile. Hours went past and finally they arrived at Santa’s Workshop. When they walked in Santa was sitting at his table half angry and half sad. ‘“I wish I could catch the thief,” said Santa. “I’m sure if I told him about Christmas he would bring the toys back." “But Santa," said George “Why don’t you make new toys?" “I can’t" Santa sadly said, “There wouldn’t be enough toys for every boy’ and girl in the world." “There just isn’t enough time.” Sally walked outside and saw some footprints, “Come here Santa, look. Here are some footprints”. Santa, George and Sally followed the footprints until they came to an elf’s house. It was Jolly Jingle’s house. He was the new elf. They opened the door and walked in. There was Jolly Jingle and also all the toys. Santa said “Jolly Jingle how could you steal all these presents?” Jolly Jingle said “But they all looked so good to play with that 1 didn’t want to give them away!” “Come on Jolly Jingle, help me bring everything back to the workshop. When you see the smiling faces of the children on Christmas morning you will see what Christmas is all about.” said the kind old man. George and Sally hopped on the snowmobile and went home. That year Christmas came as usual and Jolly Jingle found out what Christmas was all about and he never ever stole Christmas presents again.
