I Am A Christmas Tree BYLISAHERN Grade 4 Usborne Central I’ts two days before Christmas and everyone is decorating me. I have a star on top and silver around me. I look very beautiful. I’m more beautiful than any ordinary tree. But when the decorations go I’m lonely. If I don’t.think of now I won’t feel beautiful. Hey! it’s Christmas, here comes the opening of presents. I get the best view of them all. It sure feels terrible when they cut me down but now everything’s all right. I keep all the gifts under me. I’m proud. I like Christmas. After opening with the Mary Stewart Collect and Ode, Mrs. Gerald Britnell president, welcomed everyone. Minutes of the last meeting, cor­ respondence and thank you notes were read by Mrs. Ewart Crago. Mrs. Bill Spence gave a report on Rally Day held at Kirkton. Mrs. G. Britnell and Mrs. J. Gunton were delegates at the 64th annual area convention in London and. each gave highlights. Mrs. M. Shute brought a report on the South Perth fall banquet she attended. Mrs. Ronald Denham presented a gift to Cynthia Copeland who received her Provincial Honors and Cathy Regier who got her advance honors at the 4-H Achievement Day. The 4-H leaders were asked to come forward and were presented with a gift for their work with the girls. The program was in charge of the education con­ veners Mrs. Bill Spence and Mrs. George Burgin opening with a sing song. A group of boys, John Wiles, Jim Wiles, Wade Bukell, Jason Bukell, Ron Brookshaw delighted the audience with three live­ ly numbers and were accom­ panied on the piano by Mrs. • Earl Stephens. Mrs. Clarence Switzer, Mrs. Rea Stephen, Mrs. Robt Ratcliffe took part in a Education Skit “The Enumerator.” Mrs. Bill Spence in­ troduced Mr. Klaus Seeger, Health Inspector for the county of Huron. He spoke on Bacteria in our food and how it gets there. Mrs. George Burgin thanked the speaker. A contest and reading brought the meeting1 to a close. The delicious 8 lunch was served by the group in charge. Personals Mrs. Bernie Harvieux, Algoma Mills, Mrs. Joan Massicotte and Mrs. Ina French both of Toronto, Mrs. Walter Muscraft, Ed­ monton, Alta, and Mr. Tom Atthill of London visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Norris Atthill and visited their mother Mrs. Dan Jar­ vis who has undergone sur­ gery in St. Joseph Hospital, London. Master Chris Weernink has returned home after be­ ing a patient in London Vic­ toria and Sick Children’s Hospital for several weeks. Mr. Bill Maddock has returned home after being a patient in London Hospital. Paul Robinson and Graham Ross Scouts along with leader Mr. Brad Smith back packed from London Fanshawe Dam to St. Marys on the Thames Trail. ' Miss Heather Urguhart, Toronto was hostess to a shower at the home of her parents for Miss Cindy Bryan, RR 6, St. Mary’s, bride elect. Jack Clark of Dawson Creek is visiting friends in the community. Communion Service was held in Kirkton and a Christ­ mas evening of song and worship with senior and junior choirs rendering Serveral anthems, solo, trio and quartette and a drama, “Where Love Is” based on a story by Tolstoy. The following people took part, Miss Reverend La Rouche, RaySwitzer, Harold Burgin,’ John Heard, Bud Beath, Jackie Lamond, Bill Denham, Christine Eveleigh, Tracy Shute, Jean Ratcliffe and David Switzer. Play cards at Brinsley By GORDON MORLEY Ten tables were in play for the euchre party held Friday night at the Brinsley Com­ munity Hall which was convened by Mr. & Mrs. Fred Lewis, and Mr. & Mrs. Wilbert Lewis. Prize winners were - ladies high score - Mrs. Harold Guilfoyle, lone hands - Mrs. . Jack Trevithick, low - Mrs. Evan Hodgins, Men’s high - Charles Rollings, lone hands - John Levine, low - Earl Lewis , Special prize ■ Tom Kooey. Mr. & Mrs. Kelly Robinson and Mr. & Mrs. Alonzo Hodgins are conveners for the next party December 29th. Rev. Harold Snell, Exeter assisted with the service in the United Church, Sunday. Miss Cindy Prest, London visited Sunday with her parents Mr. & Mrs. George Prest. Mr. & Mrs. Tom Mclnroy had their baby baptized in the United Church at Ailsa Craig Sunday. Brinsley United Church Sunday School concert will be held Thursday December 21 in the Church. As part of the Christmas celebration Rev. John Latham conducted the traditional nine lesson carol service at St. Mary’s church, Brinsley, Sunday. The annual Christmas Communion Service will be held Christmas eve at 9 p.m. Mr. & Mrs. Charles Cor­ bett have as holiday guests their daughter Jane and her husband John Becker from Toronto. Dr. Stephen Blum of the York University Music Department spent the week end with them. Mr. & Mrs. Bob Hodgins and April were dinner guests Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Jim Morley.
