HAROLD DAVIS KIRKTON Dr. Albert Berry and Mrs. Ila Blackler were at Toronto last week attending two functions. The first was a reception by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario in the Parliament Buildings given for the recipients of the Order of Canada. The second was a banquet given by Premier Davis for the Order of Canada and Governor-General Leger. This took place in the Four Seasons Hotel and was to be the final function of this kind before he retires and over 500 attended. Personals Mrs. Herman Paynter has returned home after being a patient in St. Marys Memorial Hospital. St. Paul’s Anglican Church held a con­ gregational Christmas •Dinner after the service Sunday morning. The children remained in church for the service and Mrs. Reverend Mills gave the Christmas story with pic­ tures: then two Advent candles were lit for the ser­ vice. during the communion service the children went to the altar to receive a bless­ ing. Following the dinner the children entertained with singing, readings, piano in­ strumentals and duets, riddles, baton twirling and a horn solo. Dr. Berry showed slides he had taken at Disneyland. Santa Claus arrived to give out gifts and candies. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Ewart Crago attended a family dinner with their daughter Joyce in Toronto, celebrating birthdays for Andrea Dunnell, Woodstock, Hazel Crago, London Ewart Crago. The nominating committee gave their report for 1979, which was accepted. The hostess and Mrs. Fred Bullock serv­ ed refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Brophy were among those from this area who were guests of the residents and management of Chateau Gardens Parkhill, Sunday. A bountiful Christmas dinner was served and an in­ teresting program followed. A good crowd attended the auction at the general store here, Wednesday evening, when all the stock was sold. By the way: A store salesman was dis­ missed because of a lack of courtesy shown to customers. He joined the O.P.P. and thoroughly en­ joys his work, because, as he says, “On this job the customer is always wrong.” By MANUEL CURTS GREENWAY A delightful Christmas program was presented by the members of the Junior Public School following the United Church service Sun­ day morning.
