RENA CALDWELL KIPPEN The Christmas meeting of Kippen east W.I. will be held at the home of Mrs. Dave Triebner, December 20 at 8:30 p.m. Keith McLean of Exeter will speak on Wills and Women’s Rights. Mrs. Mike Connally will give the motto. The ladies are reminded to bring a piece of Christmas Cake and that there will be a gift exchange. Mrs. Ernie Whitehouse is in charge of the lunch, The Cooper Christmas party was held at Huron Centennial School December 9 Kippen U.C.W. catered to 50 members. Times-Advocate, December 14, 1978 Former Kippen post master dies Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Cooper and family, London visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Vivan Cooper. Quite a number of Kippen residents attended the funeral of the late Mrs. W.E. Butt at the Box Funeral Home, Seaforth. Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Butt kept the General Store and Post Office in Kippen from 1921 until 1943. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Willert, Zurich, were recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jones. Mr. Archie Parsons has returned home from hospital much improved in health. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jones visited with Mr. and Mrs. Herb Jones in Hensall. The occasion being Mr. and Mrs, Herb Jones sixty- second wedding anniver­ sary, December 6. of the United Women. Nine answered the roll donations to the ♦ Mrs. Ralph Lynn was hostess for the December meeting Church members call with layette for the bale. Donations of money were made to the John Milton Society for the Blind and to Alma College. Bun baskets were purchased and donated to the kitchen equipment at the Lucan Community Centre. It was decided to continue their Live, Love, Project for 1979 to Oneida Indian Church. The 1978 bale and white gifts were sent to Oneida this week. Gifts will be sent to the shut-ins for Christmas. The slate of officers for the coming year was presented by Mrs. Chas. Coughlin, Honourary president - Mrs. Keith Brown, President - Mrs. Chas. Coughlin, Vice- president - Mrs. Wilmer Scott, Secretary - Mrs. Rupert Williams, Assist. Secretary - Mrs. Rea Neil, Treasurer y - Mrs. Gerald Lynn. The Christmas worship service was conducted by Mrs. Williams who read “The Story of the Cradle.” Other members participated in readings and carol singing was enjoyed. Lunch was served by the hostess. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Millson entertained Sunday in honour of Gerald’s father, Clarence Millson, who was celebrating his 85th bir­ thday. Mr. Millson enjoys good health. He has been a barber for sixty-eight years and still has his barber shop in his home in Clandeboye. Attending his party were Ruth and Jim Beckett, Kitchener, Marj and Ralph Millson, Ken and Doug, London, Don Millson and friend, Guelph, Eugene and Debbie Glavin, Leona and Mark, Centralia. Mrs. Mary Carter who has been a patient in Chatham General Hospital for the past three months, following a stroke, was transferred to University Hospital, London on Saturday, where, she will continue therapy treatment. Earl Morgan is in Inten­ sive Care in St. Joseph’s Hospital following a heart attack, Monday. Mr. & Mrs. George Hearst, London have moved into their new home they built, next to the Richard’s property. We welcome them to the community.
