The defending league champs and OHA finalists have been beaten only once in their last 11 Marts and trail Mitchell by only a single point. They have a 10- poipt gap over Tavistock, who have moved into third. They played in Lucan last night against the cellar dwelling Irish and take on the two bottom teams in the southern group this weekend. Bothwell is here, Friday, while Mt. Brydges will tackle the high-flying Hawks on Sunday at 7:30. The win over Mitchell on Friday night was a costly one as captain Steve Jen- nison arid defenceman Ron Bilcke were both sidelined with leg injuries. They join injured Fred Mommersteeg on the sidelines. However, there was also some good news as league all-star Phil Knight is ex pected to rejoin the team this week and veteran John VanGerwen has also signed. Rally For Win In earlier losses to Mitchell, the Exeter squad faltered in the final stages, but Friday night they reversed that situation to score three times in the third to post a 4-2 margin. The visitors moved ahead again later .in the middle stanza on their second power play tally. Brad Taylor even the score at 2-2 at the 5:42 mark of the third on a play with Terry Caldwell and Ken Pinder and then sent Exeter into their first lead three minutes later, finishing off a play with Dave Kinsman and Dave Bogart. Jamie Caldwell completed the scoring with an empty net goal with four seconds left in the exciting contest. Randy Lovie and Bob Ward each made 17 saves in the tight defensive struggle.
