HomeMy WebLinkAboutTimes-Advocate, 1978-12-07, Page 11Hur onia Singers plan presentation of Handel at town hall Time$-Advocate, December/, 1978 Page 11 The Huronia Singers will present the Christmas choruses and selected solos from Handel’s “Messiah” on December 15 and 16, commencing at 8:00 p.m., in the second of what is hoped will become an on-going series of Town Hall Concerts. “It has been eight years since the Huronia Singers have presented music from the Messiah”, said director Mrs. Marianne McCaffrey, “and the Town Hall represents such an acoustically sound per­ formance location, I just couldn’t resist the oppor­ tunity to use it again. This is not a complete presentation, but rather, those choruses well known and enjoyed and the solos will be presented by people from our com­ munity”. The Singers are accom­ panied in this presentation by Julie Easterbrook and Mary Moffat, both of whom are well known in the area for their musical abilities. The soloists are Marguerite McLeod, Jack Gaiser, Harry Hern and Gordon Johnson, all of whom are familiar to area residents. Mrs. McCaffrey expressed a real delight in the acoustics of the town hall. IRVIN RADER The Youth of Zion Lutheran Church held their meeting Sunday with Doris Stephen opening the meeting. They decided to go carolling December 23. A circuit get-together is planned for later. Bible study and discussion were held and recreation was enjoyed by all.
