Hodgins who was warden of Middlesex County in 1975 dropped back to the post of deputy-reeve for the term which just ended with Fred Dobbs moving up as reeve. In Monday’s election Hodgins polled 456 votes while Dobbs collected a total of 321 ballots. For the three council seats, the two incumbents Frank Hardy and Hubert Dietrich led the polls. Hardy picked up 523 votes and Dietrich was successful on 479 ballots. Leading the newcomers and taking the third council position was Kenneth Lyons with 378 votes. Failing to get a position in their first try were Murray Fraser 280, Joe Haskett 240 and Peter Nippa 100. Incumbent councillor Jim Shipley was named to the deputy-reeve spot by ac­ clamation when Hodgins moved up to do battle with Dobbs. Returning officer Austin Hodgins reported the voter turnout at about 46 percent. . A liquor plebiscite in Biddulph was approved by a vote of 599 to 212. Leading scorers were Ken Eaton 297-1225; Jeff Park 266-1116; Brian Ankers 279-1191. The ladies intertown ac­ tion saw Lucan down St. Marys by a score of 5-4. Tops for the Lucan ladies were Pat MacDonald 237- 866; Debbie Watt 255-885; Audrey Watt 312-842.
