FRED BOWDEN CENTRALIA The service of Remem brance in the United Church Sunday morning was one to remember in both message and song. “God is with us” was the subject chosen by Mr. Paul Schott for his sermon and he based his thoughts on the words of th Psalmist. Other Biblical quotations were used in making reference to Remembrance Day. He pointed out that many lives had been lost in wars down through the ages, this price of freedom was high. Are we failing to be true to •1.19 our Master? Can we bury selfishness and enjoy and adopt the loving Spirit of God who is the key that will unlock the door to an everlasting peace? Two minutes of silence was ob served during the service. Men of the congregation formed a choir and under the leadership of Doug Gill sang two numbers to add their contribution to the im- 1 pressive service. One faithful member was missing from the choir owing to illness namely, Bob Blair who was a patient in South Huron Hospital. Bob has the best wishes of a host of friends for a speedy recovery. Well, see how right you are Check the habits below you think will turn people off. □ 1 . Filling up a hot tub instead of taking a shower. I 12. Turning on the floodlights to light up the house all night. □ 3 .Turning up the thermostat, then opening a window. □ 4 .Leaving the TV on in one room while you eat dinner in another. □ 5. Cooking on an element too big for the pot. I 16. Brightening up the house at dusk by turning on all the lights. I 17. Turning the washing machine on to launder just a couple of things. I 18. Filling the kettle up to make a single cup. If you checked them all, I to 8, you're right Because waste of electricity, like anything everybody really needs, is a bad habit. That makes all the habits above turn-offs. Which is a good reason for all of us to avoid them. Wasting electricity turns people off.
