United Church news
Luke 15 is often called the
lost and found department of
the Bible and Rev. Keith
Brown spoke on the three
parables contained therein
Sunday at the Lucan United
Church.
Jesus used these parables
to point out to the Pharisees
His relationship with “the
lost”. The Church was called
into being to be His Body and
carry on after Him. Are we,

therefore, faithfully
following His example to
“seek the lost” telling others
that “He is the Way, the
Truth and the Life”.
Lost people are not looking
for open church doors, as
they know when church is.
We must go out and bring the
word of God to them. There
is a constant yearning for
God and only when this is
found can there be
“rejoicing in heaven over the
finding of the one who was
lost”.
Next Sunday, Don
Langford of Kerwood will
tell of the Lord’s work in
Algeria, Africa. Don and his
wife, Carol served three
years under the United
Church as agricultural
missionaries there.
Following the service the
Friendship Unit will hold its
Fall “Friendship Lun
cheon’’, to which all
members and friends are
invited.
One nice big bag of mitts,
toques and scarves came in
this week. Bring yours along
any time now and leave in
the kitchen, labelled “For
the Mitten Tree”. If you do
not knit, why not contribute a
set or two which you could
buy. All contributions
gratefully accepted.
