LIST OF ELECTORS
FOR 1978
Of The Municipality of The
Town of Exeter
This preliminary list of all Electors prepared as set
out in Section 22 of the Municipal Elections Act,
1977 will be publicly posted in the Office of the
Municipal Clerk and in at least two conspicuous
public places in the municipality on or before the
20th day of October, 1978 as required by Section
25 of the said Act.
Electors should examine the list which will be in the
following locations:
Municipal Building, 406 Main Street,
Exeter Post Office, Sanders Street East,
Exeter Public Library, Main Street
to ensure that their names and relevant information
are correctly shown.
Complaints in the nature of requests for additions or
corrections to or deletions from the list may be made
by an elector completing and filing a form ob
tainable at the Office of the Clerk.
The last day of filing forms, requesting additions,
corrections or deletions is October 27, 1978.
The electors are also reminded the school support
list for 1978 taxes may be inspected at the Office of
the Clerk during office hours.

Take notice that nominations will be received by the
Clerk of the Town of Exeter at her office, 406 Main
Street, in the period commencing from 9 a.m. Mon
day, October 16, 1978 and concluding on nomina
tion day, Monday, October 23, 1978 at 5:00 p.m.
for the following positions:

(2) TWO P.U.C. COMMISSIONERS
AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE that where the
number of candidates for an office who are
nominated at the end of nomination day is not suf
ficient to fill the number of vacancies to which the
candidates may be elected, on the Wednesday,
following nomination day, October 25, 1978, the
clerk may, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
receive and certify additional nominations for the
office in respect of which there was an insufficient
number of condidates.
Each of the members so nominated, if elected, are to
serve a two-year term from December, 1978 to
November, 1980.
The required nomination forms may be obtained
from the Municipal Office and must be completed,
filed and accepted by the Clerk by the above
deadline.

office at Municipal .Office, McLellans
General Store, Kippen and at the St.
Joseph Service Station on the 12th day of
October, 1978, the list of all persons en
titled to vote in the municipality at
municipal elections, and that such lists re
main there for inspection and I hereby call
upon all electors to take immediate
proceedings to have any errors or emissions
corrected according to law.

Thirteen Seaforth
residents lost their jobs
Saturday when they were
told the L.H. Gray and Son
egg-grading plant was clos
ing immediately. The
workers were called to the
plant for the news by
William Gray of Ridgetown,
who operates the firm.
Gray said that the closing
is part of an “industry
trend” resulting from reduc
ed egg quotas. He said at
least 10 major grading
stations in Ontario have
closed in the past two years.

spent the weekend with
Susan Norris.
The approximately 35
major egg producers in
Huron and Middlesex coun
ties that have been served
by the Seaforth plant, he
said, “will still have a
market with us.” The-firm
continues to operate egg
grading plants in
Ridgetown, Strathroy and
Moorefield.
The Seaforth plant handl
ed 75,000 to 100,000 dozen
eggs a week and had a year
ly Payroll of about $170,000.
The Gray firm bought the
plant about a year ago from
Gay Lea Co.
Gray said his company
has no plans for its Seaforth
property. He also said “we
felt quite sorry” about the
sudden notice given to
workers.
Tom Young, who has been
manager of the egg-grading
plant for 12 years under
previous management and
for the Gray company, said
he learned of the closure
Friday night and had heard
no warning.
“It’s a big ‘shock for the
employees and for the town
of Seaforth,’’ he said.
Young, who is among those
now unemployed, said he
doesn’t think any of the
Gray employees have job
prospects. “We’re not going
