Elaine Pym’s calf was selected as overall champion by judge George Earley of Kerwood. The prize animal was purchased for 78 cents per pound by Darling’s IGA. The reserve championship went to a calf shown by Elaine’s brother Brian. It Harvest resumes The persistent rainfall, which had plagued area farmers for the past three weeks, came to a halt over the weekend and has seen a return to normal harvest. A few farmers were able to get on their land over the weekend, while others had to wait until Monday The bean harvest is in full swing and hopes remain high that the dry weather will continue until it pieted. Ironically, the national Plowing which has been plagued by wet weather in recent years, may suffer some due to the good weather as many farmers may not risk taking a day off work to attend. is com- • I too, was bought by Darling’s for 72 cents a pound. The Pym family was back again with Margaret gaining a fifth place finish.Her calf was bought by Freeman Horne for 70 cents per pound. A calf shown by Gerald Johns was the sixth best. It also won the prize for gaining the most weight of 665 pounds. The buyer was A & H Food Market at 70‘2 cents a pound. Perennial winner Cliff Pepper, R.R. 1, Dashwood captured 23 red ribbons. They came in White Rock, New Hampshire, Minorca, White Leghorn, Ancona and Australorp breeds. Josie Ryckman with nine firsts, six seconds and three thirds was the major flower exhibitor. Carolyn Ferry took five ribbons.
