Guest speaker was Peter Voss, a member of the Salvation Army Corps in Kitchener and founder of the SunbeamHomes for children in Waterloo County. A long time resident of Ailsa Craig and well known business man in the area, Gordon Sutherland was voted into office by ac­ clamation. Other officers elected included Merlon Bender of the Pinecrest Dairy, vice- president, and Don McLeod of McLeod’s Home Hard­ ware, secretary-treasurer. The. recent outbreak of vandalism in the village was a subject under discussion. This decline in students is evident at St. James Separate School in Seaforth, where the decrease is 4.6 percent, At a meeting of the Huron- Perth County Roman Catholic Separate School board in Dublin, Monday, it was reported that the kin­ dergarten classroom has been closed and the four pupils have been integrated in the Grade 1 class. The teacher, Marie Ryan, has been transferred to Dublin St. Patrick’s School where she will teach half days, as she did in Seaforth. She is teaching grades three and four at St.' Patrick’s, while Margaret Rowland, who was teaching 90 percent, has been cut to 60 percent ot accommodate Mrs. Ryan. “It was by mutual con­ sent,” William Eckert, director of education remarked. October 15 has been named as a tentative date for an open house at the newly renovated Precious Blood School, Exeter. The inaugural meeting date was set for the first Monday in December, December 4, due to the early elections this year. A “Made To Measure” roll call started the Ways and Means’ bank account with each member paying a sum of whatever measurement they were fortunate to draw. Each committee head gave a brief outline of their plans for the year, with a busy agenda planned by each. The second meeting of the year was held at Lee Rowe’s home, with Barb Grant acting as co-hostess. Linda Burgess, programme chairman for the year, began the year’s programme outline with a demonstration on collage making, after which we all participated in making collages to demonstrate our deter­ mination to “Seek New Horizons”, our theme for the year.
