Pat Down Ladies President . Shaw, Mayor Ontario, I have included basic Block Parent information in this mailing as well as the Times-Advocate, September 28, 1978 1979 FORD LTD Roomy... Responsive... Remarkably New. the eusyeodv THERE IE NOTHING TO Re; the Block Parent Program. Across the province of Ontario and our nation, in over 300 communities both large and small, children, indeed all citizens, are en joying the benefits of a program which provides a network of safety - the Block Parent Program. All Block Parents must be screened by the police department before they are allowed to display the familiar red and white Block Parent sign in their window. Children are taught that they nray run to the house displaying the sign whenever they are in trouble and need assistance. But Block Parent is for senior citizens, older children and other adults who find themselves in difficulty as well. It is the desire of the Ontario Block Parent Executive Committee to make every attempt to have the Block Parent Program introduced to the remaining Ontario communities still without programs. Block Parent is a com munity program entirely operated by volunteers and the interest and desire for the program must come from the citizens of the community. The measure of the need for the Block Parent Program in your community is not whether your com munity has problems with child molestations, assaults, indecent exposures and bullying, but rather what the Block Parent Program can do for your community in the future as the community works as one, citizens, police, teachers, service clubs municipal govern ments, to provide safety for all your citizens, with every child receiving basic, common sense instruction on how to deal with strangers, whether that incident may happen in their own com munity or when they are visiting or vacationing. The danger to our small com munities comes not from within but from outside. There are 125 Block Parent communities in Ontario including our great city giants right down to to our smallest villages. It is estimated that there are approximately 65 thousand Block Parent homes in Yours in Block Parenting, Mrs. Margaret MatGee Chairman Ontario Block Parent Executive Committee & Exeter Times Advocate, Exeter, Ontario. among a very small per centage of Canadians who will receive this gift.
