Gives Garden Party weather for Fair
For the first time in many
years the sun shone brightly
and warmly on the annual
Kirk ton Fall F’air, Saturday.
Master of ceremonies Lee
Paul described the weather
perfectly saying, "it’s
Garden Party weather for
the Fall Fair. Everybodys’
here in shirt sleeves. Its’ a
strange sight for our fair.”
The excellent weather
may have cut down on the
attendance as area farmers
were busy harvesting beans.
Secretary June Robinson
said the number of
exhibitors was up but at least
one large exhibitor of
previous years did not show.
Mrs. Chas Baillie won the
Simpson Sears and Canadian
Canners specials as the top
contestant in baking and
canning.
Others showing well' in
these two classes were Mrs.
Keith Stephens, Mrs. Lome
Fell and Mrs. Joe Cod-
dington.
In a small showing of
flowers, Mrs. Tom Hern was
the major prize winner.
Taking top honours in house
plants were Mrs. Dorothy
Switzer and Mrs. Raymond
Switzer.
