FRED BOWDEN CENTRALIA Peter’s healing of the lame man was the biblical reference upon which Mr. Paul Schott based his thoughts for his serman in the United Church, Sunday morning. The Christian experience is an uphill climb; said the speaker. Are we willing to accept responsibility and obey the teachings of the Bible to help promote God's work in the world. Mrs. Schott assisted with the service by telling the children’s story. She used drawings to show the manner in which a young child can be taught the meaning of “Faith.” The choir sang an anthem and Faye Blair favoured with a vocal solo. Personals Patti Tasko has returned to London to continue her studies at the University of Western Ontario. Her sister Mary Lou a graduate of North Middlesex District High School is enrolled at McMaster University in Hamilton and left last week to begin her studies. Patti and Mary Lou are daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Tasko. Other girls who are off to school to further their education are Donna Wildon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Wilson who is at­ tending Fanshawe College in London and Lois Elliott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Elliott who is attending the University of Guelph, Among the newcomers to the village during the summer months are the Riley family to the home they purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Dick Neil. Mr. and Mrs. Varley and son to the home they pur­ chased from the Davis family. The Clarke family have taken up residence in the home they purchased from Mr. and Mrs. James Gaunt. Mr. and Mrs. Gaunt recently moved to London. T-A photo Trivitt Anglicans celebrate 90th anniversary of church founding The Opening Services in Trivitt Memorial Church were held in 1888* when the Preacher was the famous Bishop Baldwin, after whom Baldwin Street is named. Therefore it was the 90th Anniversary of continuous worship of Almighty God which was celebrated Sun­ day in the Church with Holy Communion at 8 A.M, followed by a Family Ser­ vice at 11:15 A.M. The organist Gerald McAuley accompanied the singing .of the Hymns “Lo God is Here” “We love the place 0 God” “The Church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord” and “Now thank we all our God” and also the soloist Mrs. Marilyn Zivkovic who sang with great devotion “Great is Thy Faithfulness”. The sermon by the Rev. George Anderson took the form of a resume of the history of the past, looking forward to the future, and the duty of the present members not only to main­ tain the structural beauty and utility of the buidling, but to give whole heartedly of themselves in interest, time and dedication. Flower arrangements decorating the Church were placed to the Glory of God by Miss Marion Bissitt. Mrs. Norah Taylor hosted a “Missionary Challenge with guest challenger Lillian Dixon, one of the missionaries sub­ stituted by Helen Hodgins. 'The panel were Mrs. Merkley, Mrs. C. Ersman, Mrs. H. Laing and Mrs. Learn. The devotional was on the “Challenge of the Beatitudes” taken by Mrs. H. Strang with Mrs. Murray reading the Bible lesson Mathew 5:3-12. Mrs. Norman Stanlake gave the study from the book “On a Journey” dealing with “What Jesus says to us as members of our Community and the World.” Mrs. R. Iles favoured with two musical numbers on the piano which were enjoyed very much. October 10, the Garden Auxiliary will be hosting the Presbyterial Visitor with the P.C.W. invited to their meeting. October 23, the P.C.W. will be celebrating their 80th birthday of the U.M.S. The programme committee will be arranging a special meeting for this occasion. The maid of honour was Bonnie Campbell and Teri Hennessey was bridesmaid. The best man was Ken Moore and guests were ushered by Larry Horton and Rod Sandilands.
