T-A photo Steelers best in soccer league Grand Bend’s Lakeport Steelers became champions of the Sarnia and District Peewee Soccer League on the week end, with a con vincing 8-0 victory over their closest rivals Sarnia C.C. Inside-forwards Karl Krohmer and Billie Tugwell shared the scoring with four goals each. Half-backs Jan Carroll, Colin Alexander and Stephen Jeacock were outstanding for the Steelers and Brad Forbes recorded the shutout. Playing in front of an excitable crowd under the lights at Norm Perry Stadium in Sarnia, the Steelers gained a second week end victory when they downed Lambton Shelley Machine 3-1 to move into the semi-final of this years Southwestern Ontario Cup. Lakeport found them selves struggling in the early stages of the game, and with only 30 minutes remaining they were behind 1-0. It was late goals from Karl Krohmer, Jim McDonald and Dave Murray that won the game for the fighting Steelers. 9-1 sponsored by Canadian Foresters KIRKTON WOODHAM COMMUNITY CENTRE Music By JOE OVERHOLT & THE STANDBYS You're /nv/7eolw ^1To The Official * 1 * > 1 ■ 3 Exeter church lads go camping Recently a group of Cadets of the Exeter Chris tian Reformed church spent a 3-day camping weekend in Pinery Provincial Park, The boysji as well as their leaders, kept busy from morning till evening. The many activities in cluded baseball among the trees, swimming in stormy Lake Huron, and hiking along some of the fine trails in the Park. The Cadets also had the opportunity to put into practice their skills in pitching tents, splitting wood, as well as cooking the three daily square? meals. It turned out that the boys lacked skill only in pitching tents. An unexpected’ visit from the tent building inspectors, led to a total collapse of all tents at two o’clock in the morning. The case of the missing bell-tent resulted in some crowded sleeping con ditions. One leader spent the night curled up in the back seat of his car, while the 6 foot head-counsellor kept his feet cool by sleeping in a four foot pup tent. Despite these in conveniences that are a natural part of camping, the - boys and their leaders en joyed themselves. of LUCAN COMMUNITY MEMORIAL CENTRE Saturday, September 9 Direct from the Skyline Hotel in Toronto w Diamond Lil Review" AND DANCE 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Advance Tickets $5.00 per person Perry Stover hurt in crash A former Exeter man has been released from hospital after being involved in a . head-on accident early Saturday morning near Ran- noch, about two kilometers west of St. Marys.
