Kaune family leads
The Henry Kaune family
were in charge of the ser
vice at the Lucan United
Church Sunday morning,
with Henry leading in
worship, Lisa and John
reading the scriptures and
Cathy bringing the message.
Speaking of love for one
another, she stressed the
need for living a simple life

and pointed out that a child
may feel cheated of the
feelings of great longing for
something, if given too
many material things too
soon and too often.
Mrs. Kaune said that a
truly loved child is taught to
fit into all phases of society
and she asked the congrega
tion to remember 3 words,
commitment, love and dis
cipline, stating that dis
cipline is guidance, not
punishment.
Christians goals for fami
ly life include respect for
authority, learning to take
responsibility.
This morning, Thursday,
at 9:45 the Prayer and Share
group is meeting, to which
all women of the community
are invited.
Any one with a small
metal individual tea pot is
asked to loan it for use at the
Lucan-Clandeboye food
booth at the fair this
weekend. Please call 227-
4674 if you have one for loan.
A “Minute Talk’’ on
“World Development” was
given by Mrs. Wm. Froats,
who stated it is from this
fund that help is given in
time of world crises, such as
the flood in India last year.
SKYDIVERS
Sunday, August 20 at 1:00
the six-man paratrooping
Molson sky divers will
descend from the heavens at
the Lucan Fair.
Carried skyward in the
Lilcan Fair helicopter, the
same helicopter in which
fairgoers can ride, the
Toronto-based sky-diving
team will perform precision
manoeuvres high above the
tent tops and the sights and
sounds of the fairgrounds.

Our 79 Kawasakis are built to turn all your snow times
into good times. They take all the joys of snowmobiling
and heat them up to a new degree of hotness. After all,
snowmobiling is a sport where good times are king. So
it's just good sense to snowmobile on the king of good
times. '

In case you hadn't heard, last year's Kawasakis were hot
enough to blow everybody else away. So hot, our
vader set a new world 24-hour endurance record of
1,287 miles with lap speeds up to70.5 mph. Proving un
questionably that Kawasaki is the hottest thing on snow.

Like the hustle-bustle of a
big-city carnival, or are you
the type who prefers the
back-slappin' and good home
cookin’ of a small-town fair?
Blither way. you’ll enjoy
this year’s edition of the
Lucan Fair - the biggest little
fair around.
Big enough to attract some
oi the entertainment world’s
brightest stars. Like Ferlin
Husky, Carroll Baker and
one of Canada’s most
popular bands, the Good
Brothers. Yet small enough
for perspiring jugs of icy
cold, just pressed apple
cider.
Big enough to provide all
the action a midway lover
could want. Rides, games of
skill and chance, carmel
corn, candy floss and bright
red candy apples. Small
enough to feature novelty
contests for the small fry -
chicken races, turtle races
and of course, a tug of war.
Add to this the mammoth
horse show - with English
and Western events, the
fully-licensed Lions Den -
including entertainment by
Killarney, the Molson
paratroopers, helicopter
rides, the famous Lucgn Fair
parade, and much much
more, and you can see why
this year’s Lucan Fair really
is the biggest little fair
around.
It’s too early for this year’s
Santa Claus parade, and too
late for this year’s Tour
nament of Roses parade. So
what’s a parade lover to do?
Come to Lucan, Friday
August 18 and watch as the
biggest and best Lucan
parade ever assembled
opens the fair on the right
note at 7:00 p.m.
Featured in the 1978 Line
up is the Listowel Legion
Pipe Band and Color Party.
This renowned outfit was
part of the Rose Bowl
Parade on New Year’s day
and also performed al
Disneyland and in Mexico as
part of the Ontario Legion
Pipe Band.
Joining the Listowel troupe
will be more than 300
marchers, musicians and
majorettes from southern
Ontario who form the
London Imperial Drum and
Bugle Corps, the Goderich
Lakeshore Band, the Dor
chester Majorettes and
Drum Corps, the Bluewater
Buccaneers, the Young
Conquerors Fife and Drum

Food in the
family kitchen
After a full day of enjoying
the sights, sounds and
friendly folk at the Ltican
Fair, or maybe just as a
pause in excitement,
wouldn’t it be nice if you
could get away from it all, sit
down a spell and enjoy a
good home-cooked meal -
without leaving the grounds?
This year you can. At the
new “Lions kitchen.’’
The workmen are busily
putting the finishing touches
on the small auditorium at
the arena complex and they
promise the kitchen will be
cookin' up a storm by fair
time.
The Lions kitchen, fully
licensed by the L.L.B.O. will
provide a quiet retreat
where families and friends
can enjoy a snack or full
course meal.
