At the annual meeting of the 103 year company held in March, former president Howard Datars said the board of directors had unanimously decided to proceed with plans for a new building. Twenty-nine campers were transported along with full equipment and supplies to the Park by helpful parents. We, the staff would like to thank 'those parents who gave their time to help us out. Also to the parents who donated equipment. We could not have done it without you. The campers enjoyed swimming, a rain storm, camp fire complete with songs, skits and popcorn on Thursday. Just before.lights out we had a visit from a masked animal friend from the forest which proved to be a surprise to all. A game of survival taught the children how nature really works in woods and how it is not always fair. Pack up time came too soon after a lunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches apd chicken noodle soup. This week is called S.P.A.R.K. summer Fair week. All week the children have been busy making crafts for the craft table and baking all kinds of goodies for the bake sale at the Pen ny carnival, today, Thurs day. A parade of decorated bikes and children will cir cle the neighbourhood around J.A.D. McCurdy Public School at about 10:30. The Penny carnival gets underway at 1 today featur ing games, movies and spot contests as well as our craft and baking tables. The children have worked hard and we encourage everyone to come out and join in the fun. Tomorrow we are taking a trip to Bob-lo Island amuse ment park/all those who are going are asked to meet at the McCurdy School by 6:45. We hope it’s good weather and a good time. Centennials beat GB Mike Janyu and Matt Muller collaborated on their club’s single goal when Exeter Centennials won 1-0 over Grand Bend in Ausable district soccer Field, Sunday. The winner minutes of the Muller hit the ball into a perfect placement of a corner-kick from the left of the Grand Bend net, and Janyu headed it in for his first goal as a Centennial. Just prior to that, the Centennials had several close chances; one of them on a low shot from winger Brad Clausius that wedged in the Grand Bend keeper’s legs on the goal-line after getting' through his hands. The game, a hard and well- played affair, began evenly enough with Exeter going into a strong attack at the start. But Grand Bend held against the op ning Exeter drive. Then, both clubs settled into a game that could have gone either way until Exeter slowly began getting the edge. It was an edge they worked hard for, with every member of the team contributing a strong performance. There will be no league play next Sunday. Instead, the teams will be at Lucan for the second-annual Lucan six-a-side tournament, which will be held between noon and 5 p.m., The Centennials resume the season Sunday, August 13, when they play away at Forest at 2 p.m. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I Buy the bike of your choice up to 125 C.C. in competition with our other customers KV75-A7 UNTRY rNEr STORES I I I I I I I I I I I I I
