the Kirkton-Woodham
Community Cehtre with 191
registering.
The president, William
Hanly called the gathering to
order and following the
grace the eldest person,

David Bartman, son of Grant
and Marian Bartman qf
Gorrie, cut the anniversary
cake which had been made
by Mrs. William Hanly.

attend Camp Bimini

Miss Sallah Gunton spent
last week at Camp Bimini as
a Counselor. This week Ellen
and Deanna Copeland are at
the camp. Ellen is a coun
selor and Deanna a camper.
Mrs. Wilfred Lemieux and
Rosemary, of Capreol,
returned home on Sunday
after spending some time
with her sister, Mrs. Fred
Parkinson, Margaret and
Janet and her mother, Mrs.
K. Cacciotti.
We are sorry to report
Fred Parkinson is a patient
in St. Marys Memorial
Hospital at time of writing.
Mr. & Mrs. George
Wheeler and Mr. & Mrs.
John Rodd attended the
Wheeler reunion at Newfane,
Vermont, U.S.A, on Satur
day.
Miss Jean Copeland
visited Sunday evening with
Mrs. Harold Little of

Perry in the Lambeth United
Church on Sunday.

Irvine Riehl of Stratford, the
president called on the
secretary-treasurer Jean
Copeland to read the minutes
of the 1976 reunion.
Mrs. Stuart Shier gave the
Memorium and following a
moments silence, closed
with a poem.
George Webster,
Milgrove, acted as M.C. for
the program. An accordion
and guitar duet were given
by Tim and Danny Shute of
Kirkton. Mr. & Mrs. John
McLaughlin of London
played several numbers op
the violin and piano.
George Webster told of the
1st reunion held in 1918 al the
home of Wesley and
Elizabeth Switzer. Around
300 attended, some coming
from long distances and how
tables and chairs were
gathered from many places
and they ate off china dishes.
Mrs. Ewart Crago read the
report as printed in the
Journal Argus in 1928 from a
scrapbook made by her
mother, Annie Webster
Hanly. A letter was read
from Ruth Switzer Watson of
Haverford, Pennsylvania,
daughter of Wesley and
Elizabeth Switzer telling of
her memories as a child at
the first reunion.
Twenty-seven people who
attended the 1928 reunion
were asked to stand.
Donna Harding of Gorrie
played the ukelele and sang
several numbers. The past
presidents and secretaries
were introduced.
The next reunion in 1980
will, be held at the Kirkton-
Woodham Community
Centre.
William P. Switzer of
Stratford gave the report of
the nomination committee.

ding of Gorrie conducted the
races and relays after which
a smorgasbord supper was
served.

At the United Church, Rev.
Elwood Morden was in
charge of the morning
worship and took the theme
for his sermon from the story
of the Children of Israel
crossing the Red Sea and
entitled his message
“Through the Floods.”
Services will resume at St.
Thomas Anglican Church in
August, and it is hoped that
the congregation of the
United Church will join in
worship at St. Thomas, as
the United Church minister
Rev. Morden will be on
vacation for the month of
August.
A speedy

Nixon who is a patient in
University Hospital,
recovering from surgery.
We are very happy to
report that Mrs. Austin
Hobbs is now home from
hospital.

who is a patient in St.
