County to undertake ear tests
In a Board of Health report
presented at Huron County
council, it was learned that
the medical officer of health
had received requests from
two industries in the County,
DOMTAR and Dashwood
Industries, to provide
hearing tests for their em
ployees on an annual basis.
These industries are now
required to have this done
due to regulatory changes
from the Ministry of Labour.
At present time the Audio
Technician is working ten
months of the year and is
granted a leave of absence
for July and August. The
proposed Industrial Hearing
Testing could be carried out
during the summer months if
the Audio Technician were
retained on an annual basis.
A five dollar fee is proposed
which would make the
program financially self-
supporting.
County Council accepted
the Board of Health’s
recommendation that the
program be initiated and

Huron County warden
Gerry Ginn said it was a
good chance for the Board of
Health to expand its services
for working class people.
Also in the Board of Health
report it was stated that
official notification had been
received dated June 2 that
Dr. Brian J. Lynch has
successfully completed the
course leading to a Diploma
in Public Health and that the
Board had appointed Dr.
Lynch as Medical Officer of
Health for Huron County
effective June 2 in ac
cordance with the Public
Health Act at an annual
salary of $36,000 as per
agreement dated August 26,
1977.
It was further stated in the
report that since there is no
one from Southwestern
Ontario on the Association of
Ontario Boards of Health,
that should there be a
vacancy due to the election
this fall, the Executive would
be looking for someone to
appoint from this area. The
Board of Health has
recommended that Mrs.
Eileen Palmer’s name be
submitted to the Association
for consideration should a
vacancy occur.
The Home Care Audit

The service on Sunday at

soloist was Mrs. Marguerite
McLeod who sang, “Beside
the Green Pastures’’. Rev.
Snell preached on being “a
citizen of Canada’’ reading
from Paul’s declaration of
citizenship in the Acts. He
stressed our country, the in
volvements of citizenship,

religion. By glorifying God
we become citizens of
heaven.
Next Sunday, the Rev.
Wareham of Exeter will be
preaching in Hensall.
