There were only 5,000 diesel fuel stations in 1974, but 11,200 now. * * * Sticky valves are usually caused by gummy deposits. Special ad ditives may help. * * * If your car overheats, pull off the road safely and then— do nothing. Let it cool off before you open the radiator. If the radiator is too hot to rest your hand on, it's too hot to open. You may be scalded by steam and engine coolant. * * * In Canada, speedometers and odometers are being converted to measure kilometers instead of miles. Decal places on the dashboard will give true mileage and date at the time of conver sion. * * * Whether you're driving miles or kilometers, you'll want your car run ning smoothly. That kind of comparison makes it easy to spot the heavy users of electric power in your home. Major appliances like clothes dryers, refrigerator-freezers, ranges, airconditioners, hot water heaters and furnace fans can waste hundreds of kilowatt hours each month unless they are used with care. (A kilowatt-hour is one thousand watts, used for one hour. For example, ten 100-watt bulbs burning for an hour.) Waste is costly. Try to involve your whole family in a campaign for the wise use of electricity, particularly in the areas of heaviest use. The Hydro conservation booklet "How you use the electricity you use" can help you. Ask for a free copy. EXETER PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION Ms A. Greehe - Chairman C. H. Livingstone - Commissioner B.
