In the afternoon the teachers enjoyed a cruise of the harbour Kaministitivia River viewing the grain elevators and iron ore docks. Old elevators built along the river had poor foundations and are now* sinking and abandoned. Newer elevators in the Port Arthur area are founded upon rock. Old Fort William, the restored Northwest Com­ pany Fort is where the fur traders from the West met the traders from Montreal, about this time of year. After seeing history in Fort William, the group was taken to Mt. McKay, at an elevation of 1200 feet. One could see for miles over the Thunder Bay area and study the problems of transporta­ tion. A short business meeting was conducted. The president, Miss Ruth Skinner, opened the meeting with a poem. Donations were made to Joan Allen who is going to India, the manse board and the board of management. The day to work at the United Church Women’s booth at the International Plowing Match will be the Friday. Mrs. Emerson Penhale gave a report on her weekend spent at West­ minster Collage. The August meeting will be breakfast at the church on August 23 at 8:30 a.m. Everyone enjoyed a tasty meal of chicken. Mrs. Bill Allen and Mrs. Fred Delbridge were the hostesses. Sports were conducted by Mrs. Gary Simpson and Mrs. Murray Coward. Mrs. Dennis Rowe had also helped plan them. They proved entertaining to all. Combined church service for Thames Road-Elimville will be held at Elimville United at 10 a.m. The Elimville Women's Institute catered to Usborne of Vivan Cooper over the holiday week end. PROMOTE FESTIVAL While Zurich Switzerland should be well known in England, the same could not be said for the community with the same, name on the other side of the Atlantic. This may change as the Zurich Bean Festival will be a part of an exhibition at Ontario House in London England depicting Ontario’s white bean industry.
