capture school's awards

Graduation ceremonies
were held at McGillivray
Central School Thursday
evening when diplomas were
presented to 31 grade eight
students by the principal,
Mrs. Ila Hamilton.
Mistress of ceremonies for
the evening was Cindy
Bardawill president of the
Students’ Council. Several
musical numbers were
presented by members of the
graduating class and the
guest speaker.
Joe Dushane of CJBK was
introduced by Robin Turner
and thanked by David
Whiting. Valedictorian was
Elizabeth Markus.
Awards were given to
Elizabeth Markus for
English, Mathematics,
Geography, French and
General Proficiency to Terry
Hodgins for History, to
David Whiting for Science, to
Elizabeth Lagerwerf for
Girls’ Athletics, to Rick Lee
for Boys’ Athletics, and to
Steven Lagerwerf for
Greatest Progress.
Following the program,
the graduates, parents and
guests enjoyed a buffet lunch
prepared by the grade seven
mothers. A lovely
graduation cake was made
and decorated by Mrs.
Graham Eagleson.

met Wednesday in the
basement of the church for
their July meeting.

Brantford and Miss Ruth
Trevithick, Etobicoke.

School and has completed
her Grade 12.

Pym clan unite
for annual fete
The annual Pym picnic
was held Sunday June 25 at
Riverview Park with a good
attendance, all enjoyed a
bountiful supper.
President Harold Davis
welcomed all present and
hoped that everyone will
enjoy the evening together.
Letters were read from
Mrs. Marion Rae, London,
and Mr. & Mrs. Jim Doan
Honeywood extending
greetings and best wishes.
A moment of silence.with
prayer was observed for the
three folk who have passed
on since the last picnic.
Three weddings and three
births were reported during
the year.
Minutes and financial
statement of the 1977 picnic
were read by Lena Kirkland,
secretary and approved.
A motion by Alvin Pym
and Harry Cole approved a
donation of $10 to the parks
committee. The picnic for
1979 will be held the same
place, same time and the
same officers were re
elected.
The couple present the
longest married was Hubert
and Myrtle Hunter, 47 years.
The person with the longest
name was baby MacDonald
and also the youngest
present, Jennifer Dorothy
Ann Hunter MacDonald;
mystery prize guessed
correctly by Marie Branton.
Sports were — girls
kicking their shoe into a
bushel basket, Brenda
Shulman; boys kicking their
shoe, Dennis Pym.
