to courts
A press release from
Ontario Provincial Police
detachment at Lucan this
week announces a crack
down on liquor and driving
offences.
Community Services
Officer Constable G.J.
Barker announces that in
future all tickets for
squealing tires and having
liquor in a motor vehicle will
have to be settled in court.
Constable Barker com
mented, “A charged person
will have to appear in court
and will not be allowed to
pay the penalty ahead of
time.”
Barker continued,
“Complaints of tire
squealing, noisey mufflers,
drinking in cars, breaking
beer bottles and drag racing
come in every week,
especially in Lucan, Ailsa
Craig and Granton.”
He concluded, “Those
responsible show total
disregard for their neigh
bours and disrespect for the
law and courts. It is obvious
that minimal fines are not a
deterrent.”
