ARTHUR HODGINS The Clandeboye Women’s Institute met at Craigholme Nursing Home, Ailsa Craig, for their June meeting. Following the Institute Ode and Mary Stewart.Collect,the program consisted of vocal duets by Cheryl and Bonnie Lynn, Lisa Carter and Laurie St. Pierre and a humorous reading by president, Mrs. Art Hodgins. The residents of Craigholme joined in a sing­ song accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Hayes of Ailsa Craig. A lunch of hors- d’oeuvres and home made cookies served with tea and coffee completed the visit with the residents. A short meeting was held in the board room to com­ plete Institute business for the summer months. A Donation was made to the Farm Safety Program in their effort to place Danger signs near silos and manure pits to warn of the dangerous and deadly gases lurking. Mrs. Bruce Henry, district director gave a report on the WI district annual held in Ailsa Craig in May. Mrs. Rupert Williams reported on the bus trip to the Huron Country Playhouse to see “Oklahoma” on August 2. At time of writing there are only a couple of tickets left so anyone interested should call 227-4697. Personals The Rosch family spent Sunday sailing their new boat on Wildwood Lake. Hans Rosch has just returned from Lloydminster, Alberta, where he spent the past three weeks helping to erect a Rape Seed Dryer with the Westelegen Industries of St. Marys. Mrs. Ethel Donaldson attended the baptismal service at Belgrave Sunday for her grandson Douglas Eugene Fenton son of Cindy and Doug Fenton. Monday she attended the Middlesex Presbytery UCW “Fun Day” held at Camp Kee Mo Kee near Komoka. Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Millson and Clarence Millson were Father’s day guests at a Millson family dinner held at the home of Debbie and Eugene Glavin and family, Centralia. Mrs. Dorothy Joyce, Windsor visited on the weekend with her sister and brother-in-law Hazel and Rupert Williams. Sunday they visited with their father, Lome Derbyshire at the Komoka Nursing Home and had dinner with him. Mrs. Art Hodgins ac­ companied Mrs. Bill Morley of Zion to Goderich, Thur­ sday to visit their sister and brother-in-law Ruth and Russell Brock. Several ladies from Clandeboye attended a community shower Monday night at the Centralia Community Centre held in honour of Debbie Marrinan whose wedding takes place July 1. Dave and Eleanor Kestle have been busy attending various functions recently. A week ago they were guests at the wedding of Richie Robertson, son of Mr. & Mrs. Jim Robertson of Lucan, whose marriage to Sharon Knights took place in Toronto. While in Toronto, they also attended the Billy Graham Crusade. Saturday they were at the Summer Ontario Bee Keepers Association con­ vention held at Guelph. They report a world shortage of honey at the present time but the prospect of this years crop in some areas par­ ticularly, is looking good. Fathers Day the Kestles- entertained their family. Attending were Nancy and Mike Stahl, Nathan and Jessie; Janis Kestle and Gordon Hetherington of London, Sharon and Dave Newman, Kim and Greg of Lucan, Helen and George Cunningham, and family of Mooresville. FRED BOWDEN CENTRALIA Mr. Peter Somerville, London conducted the ser­ vice in the United Church Sunday morning and delivered a challenging sermon on the subject “What shall I .say about the kingdom of God.” Mrs. Ray Mills was the pianist for the'service in the absence of Doug Gill who was singing with the men’s quartet at the 120 an­ niversary service of the Carlisle United Church. The other members of the quartet are Sam Skinner, Bob Blair and Bob Heywood. Shower for bride elect Mrs. Bill Hodge was hostess at a shower in the Community Centre Monday evening, honouring Debbie Marrinan on her proaching marriage. Numbers on programme were an cordion solo by Dinette Steffens; a piano solo by Penny Smith and the address was read by Joanne Hodge. Debbie was assisted in -displaying her gifts by her two sisters. Edith Lobb gave a short report on her Westminster weekend. Members are to start collecting pennies Jean Haist, Verna and Mrs. Morgan conveners for programme. Jean chose the theme “Joyous life” and gave illustrations and two readings on “Joy in Your Life.” Verna read two readings one handed in from Mrs. Morgan who was unable to attend and one of her own. Several contests were enjoyed by all. Mrs. again. Hicks were the Mr. & Mrs. Sam Skinner and Dianne attended a family get-together at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Morley, Zion, Sunday evening. Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins were Sunday guests with Mr. & Mrs. Don Pickering and girls, Hyde Park. HAROLD PAVIS KIRKTON Kirk ton UCW was held at Ritz Villa Mitchell and en­ tertained the senior citizens qt the home. Worship service was in charge of Mrs. Ronald Denham and Mrs. Jack Switzer. A sing song was enjoyed and several readings after which ice-cream cones were served to all. Mrs. Rev. Brown was presented with a small remembrance gift prior to leaving for their new home in Thornhill. Mr. &Mrs. Douglas Taylor and family, New Hamburg were Sunday guests with their aunt and uncle Rev. & Mrs. Percy Brown and also attended the morning ser­ vice at Kirk ton. Communion service was observed in the United Church on Sunday. Next Sunday June 25 will be Rev. Brown’s farewell service. Joint service will be held with Woodham congregation at Kirkton church at 11 a.m. Lunch and social hour after the service.
