Times-Advocate, 1978-06-01, Page 2Page 2 Times-Advocafe, June 1, 1978 Work crew tackle jobs in district The Ausable-Bayfield Conservation Authority has again hired students in a. summer employment program under funding from the Provincial Government’s Experience ‘78 Program. This program offers job opportunities to students, each assigned to crews in the individual con servation areas within the Watershed. This staff and the Authority’s permanent staff will be closely linked in the maintenance and develop ment of these areas. Ford of Canada has again loaned three vehicles to the Experience *78 Program as part of their “Working With Youth” Program. The crews are composed of university and college students who will work for 13 weeks and secondary school students employed for 7 weeks, starting July 4. The program is headed by Pat Joynt who is the Senior Supervisor. He is responsi ble for the activities of the work crews and will work in close cooperation with the Authority general superintendent. The clerical position is held again by Dorothy Bax. Her duties will include cataloguing information in the Authority’s Resource Library, typing cor respondence, and perfor ming general office duties supporting this program. This year Lori Savauge is hired as display graphics technician. She will be work ing on displays for the Inter national Plowing Match as well as topographical models for the Authority. Patricia Chalk has been hired as Master Planning Technician. She will be working on conservation area Master Plans with Ken Daken, an employee of the Canada Works Program. The two Exeter crews will be headed by foremen Jeff Beck and Lori Sims. The field staff will also include Kim Kristofferson and Kim Smith. The Parkhill crew will be led by foreman John Smithers. These crews will be in volved in community and municipal projects within the Ausable-Bayfield watershed. The Parkhill Recreation program will involve two Recreational Coordinators Dan Kennaly and Barb Tuckey. They are now preparing the weekend program for the summer season starting June 2. It will include hayrides, film nights, nature hikes, sports activities and special events as well as many other ac tivities. When visiting the Conser vation Areas this summer, the Authority urges its users to assist this program by putting any litter in the provided trash cans and obeying the Authority’s rules and regulations.
