Deane & Laughton Solicitors for the Executrix Exeter, Ontario 20:21:22c A complex system has been set up to equalize the work load for teachers at all five Huron County high schools, resolving the major issue in the recent teachers’ strike. The system was worked out by representatives of a committee established by the board of education as one of the conditions for en ding the 31-day strike last month. The committee, composed of representatives of the teachers, trustees, board ad ministration and principals, made few changes in the basic method used now to control work load. However, Shirley Weary, a spokesman for the teachers and committee chairman, said Wednesday she felt the committee is load clause limiting the number of pupils a teacher sees in a day varies from 100 for special education teachers to 180 students for those teaching a five-year general arts program. She said the committee won’t know how many teachers will be above the work load limit until the end of September when students have settled on what courses they plan to take. The contract agreement states that if a conflict arises between the number of pupils seen daily and the pupil-teacher ratio clause, the pupil-teacher ratio will be the deciding factor. Don Kenwall, the ad ministrative committee member, said he feels the committee has performed “excellently”.
