Based on this the Exeter Kinsmen Midgets would have to judged as having a mildly successful season. We won the “B” consolation trophy at the Wingham tournament. However the 14 regulars, reduced to 11 for the final two games of that tour nament displayed pride, determination and discipline to accomplish this be beating their perennial adversaries. St. Marys 6-3 and Mooretown, a physically bigger group with 13 players, by a fl-5 score. While we may not have won all-Ontario honours, I was very proud of these young men and I know they Player Doug Brooks Preston Dearing Brian Mercer Dave Bogart Dave Atthill Dave Cann Jeff Fuller Wayne Parsons David L. Bell Larry Dawson Dan Bell Steve Pearce Doug Fletcher Rick Lindenfield David N. Bell Totals merits of midget team were proud of their ac complishment. Over the last seven years it has been my privilege to be involved in a coaching capacity with the bantams and midgets. I can say in all honesty I have been proud to be associated with each and every team, the boys, the parents and E.M.H.A. the various assistant coaches and managers I have worked with during this time. Few of these players will go on to the NHL or WHA, however this to me is not the goal. The goal is adulthood and being prepared for it. Hopefully in some small way I have contributed to this goal. The statistics which I attach pre not earth shat tering but they do mirror the contribution each boy made Scoring Statistics Exeter Kinsman Midgets towards a year of 17 vic tories, 12 losses, two ties, 128 goals for and 99 against. I would be remiss if I did not mention the very im portant contribution of the sponsor, the Exeter Kin smen, a group of young men doing their share in our community. Thank you for your support. Whatever success I have enjoyed I must also share with my wife, Pat who has managed to juggle meals, call team members, drive to games, listen to gripes and all the rest of the ups and downs coaches go through for seven years. Thank you to the parents for the party in our honour and the lovely gift. The last seven years have been very good, now we must move on. Ray Brooks Editor’s note: Ray Brooks is an Ontario Provincial Police corporal and has been transferred to Mount Forest after seven years in Exeter. Goaltender Doug Hoffman Steve Wells Total Plant care Organization and careful preparation before transplanting seedlings can help ensure a healthy gar den, says T.J. Blom, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food horticulturist. “First, remove stones and debris from the garden. Next, loosen the soil and poke holes for the transplants.” Adding pre-wetted peat moss to the holes before transplanting will give plants a good start. Mr. Blom says it is best to transplant seedlings at night. When ready to transplant, gently tap the sides of the pot to remove the plant.
