T-A photo Back resolution to Bell At its latest meeting Biddulph township council endorsed a resolution from the Middlesex County Federation of Agriculture. The resolution asks that Bell Canada contact all property owners prior to installing underground cable in rural areas in an effort to locate private and agreement drains. At the same meeting a total of 15 building permit applications were reviewed and approved. Friday at 10:30 p.m. a vehicle driven by Randy J. Harrigan, 136 Algonquin Drive, Huron Park left the Airport sideroad at County road 22 and struck the ditch. Constable J.A. Wilson listed damages at $300. , Vehicles driven by Michael A. Scott, R.R. 1 Lucan and James Harrison Lockhart, R.R. 2 Ailsa Craig collided Sunday at 10:50 a.m. .at the intersection of High­ way 4 and County road 22. Damages were listed at j $1,800 by Constable Wilson. Emery Sr. They will also hear the report of the District Annual which will be held the day before their meeting, on May 16 at the Ailsa Craig United Church with Riverview W.I. as hostesses. The roll call at the Branch meeting will be answered by giving a shopping tip worth remembering and Mrs. Jack Radcliffe will give the motto on “Old Shirt may become a new suit”. Members are asked to bring something baked, grown or sewn, to be sold at the meeting. Large crowd attend Middlesex Presbyterial Carlisle United Church was nearly filled for the 17th annual N.W. Regional of Middlesex Presbyterial United Church Women, Monday evening. Following registration with Lieury U.C.W. in charge, dessert and beverage were served by the hostess group in the Church school room. Literature was displayed in the lovely ad­ dition behind the Church sanctuary and Jean Linden, Presbyterial Christian Development Secretary gave an interesting resume of a few of the books available. Mrs. Linden was assisted by memers of the Parkhill U.C.W. Gertrude Rosser, Regional Vice-President, Ailsa Craig, chaired the meeting adding her welcome to that of Jean MaqKichan, president of Carlisle U.C.W. Ruth Whiting, Parkhill was appointed Secretary­ treasurer for the meeting in the absence of Shirley Durr. Marjorie Park, Kit Hearn and Mabel Froats of Lucan U.C.W. led in a most meaningful worship service carrying on with the theme “Freshen up for Spring”, and the offering and dedication were taken and given by members of the Brinsley U.C.W. Irene Lynn, Clandeboye U.C.W. introduced the guest speaker for the evening, Gwyn Whilsmith, Exeter. Mrs. Whilsmith carried the theme further, likening the housecleaning of our homes to the need for housecleaning of spiritual lives. This meeting dealt with food and fitness. The girls read some pages from their book and then did some exercises. Helen Romphf of Parkhill U.C.W. voiced the appreciation of- the members present. Leona Hill, World Outreach Secretary for Presbyterial, spoke briefly advising that the “eye glasses” project was still being carried on and each U.C.W. may act as an “agent” to receive them for that particular community. Mrs. Hill also announced a special “Outreach” program to be held in Grace United Church, St, Thomas, from 2:30 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, when Roy Bonisteel of C.B.C’s “Man Alive” will chair a panel during the afternoon on “Human Rights”. If you plan to attend make up a carload, and bring boxed lunches. Beverage will be provided. Ethel Donaldson, president of Clandeboye U.C.W. thanked all who had made the evening so very successful and invited members to hold the Regional at Clandeboye in 1979. Front, Pat Davis, Brenda Scott and Donna Leitch. ^-A photo President uses sick quota The members of the Sunshine and Busy Buddies senior groups met Thursday afternoon in the Masonic Hall, with president Gordon Hotson in charge. Mr. Hotson thanked the groups for the plant sent him last week and said if he happened to get sick again before the end of the club year that the members should not send flowers as he felt he had, unfortunately, used up his quota for this year! Edythe Murdy as program convener introduced Mrs. Peter McNaughton of the “Ilderton McNaughton Tours” who informed club members of the many day trips which are available, some suitable for right now, others the Fall, early Winter and next Spring. Those described for this time of year will be discussed and a trip chosen this afternoon, Thursday. The president thanked those on the lunch committee Viola Carter, Hazel Williams, Viola Carter and John Park. The euchre prize winners were as follows: Lady’s high, Margaret Allen; lady’s lone hands, Kathleen Neil; lady’s low, Rose Atkinson; man’s high, Murray Shoebottom; man's lone hands, Cecil Robb; and man’s low, Lon Phillips. Oney McFalls won the high bridge prize and members of the Busy Buddies worked at the quilt and at liquid em­ broidery. Lions collect eye glasses The Lucan Lions are now collecting used eye glasses to be sent to needy places. If anyone has a pair of glasses that they no longer use, please drop them off at Haskett’s Furniture store in Lucan.
