Flowers on the altar table were placed in memory of Mr. Maurice Blackler grandfather of Joanna Temple. Miss Lenore Roszell of Toronto was Godmother and Mr. & Mrs. Brent Blackler were spon­ sors. A group of Brownie Cubs from Monkton were in attendance at the service. Mrs. Cecil Dobson has returned home after being in Women’s College Hospital, Toronto. Mrs. David Shamblaw and Mrs. Hiram Hanna have returned home after spen­ ding a few weeks with friends and relatives in British Columbia. Mr. & Mrs. Harold Davis visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Fairbairn, London. Steven Blackler, Sault Ste. Marie spent the weekend with his parents .Mr. & Mrs. Garth Blackler and Kirk. Hubert of the Pinery Park detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police investigated a fire which caused considerable damage May 1 at the Pebble Lodge Marina. Damage to the upper portion of the marina con­ sisting of apartments was set at $45,000. The fire started by a spark from a plumber’s torch was brought under control by the Thedford fire department. The business portion of the marina was not damaged. Constable R. J. By GORDON MORLEY BRINSLEY Mrs. Jack Hodgson was hostess Wednesday night for the May U.C.W. meeting. Scripture reading Psalm 100 was read by Karen Hodgson. Mrs. Jack Hodgson gave a reading “Serve the Lord with gladness.” Mrs. Wilbert Lewis' read a story on “Are there Wheels,” Mrs. George Lee read two poems “A Year Around Garden’1 “Mothers Love.” Mrs. Wes Watson gave a reading on “Theo Kotz” and Mrs. Hodgson a story of Dr. Betty Bridgman. Minutes were read and adopted and roll call was answered by 11 members and one visitor. It was decided Friday morning, May 12, would be the time to housecle^n the church. A contest given by Mrs. George Lee was won by Karen Hodgson. at their regular meeting Tuesday evening. Mrs. Wilfred Dixon and Mrs. Bill Dixon were hostesses for the meeting and had for their guest speaker Mrs. Jean Edwards who showed movies of handicapped children learning to ski. 7G? HUGH MORENZ SHIPKA Pamela Durie, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Sid Durie, RR 2, Dashwood and Norbert Herrerias son of Mr. & Mrs. Carlos Herrerias of St. Etienne, France, were married Saturday afternoon at Grand Bend United Church with Rev. H. Moore Officiating. Matron of honor was Cathy Young, London and best man was Dennis Durie, Strathroy. Glenn Durie ushered the guests. Dinner followed at Oakwood Inn. Wedding guests, friends and neighbours gathered at the Durie home Saturday evening to wish the young couple happiness and congratulations.
