I -A photo Good attendance at Centralia UC Why gardens are grown? Why gardens are grown was Hurondale H’s main discussion for their first meeting Tuesday at Mrs. Robert Down’s home. The 14 girls present with some help from the assistant leader Mrs. John Neevel came up withmany answers. Just a few are that by growing gardens you save money, have a feeling of pride and pleasure, get exercise and a tan and it is a way to get rid of irustrations. Mrs. Down welcomed everyone and outlined the requirements of the 4-H garden club entitled "Preservation of Fruit and Vegetables.” The officers elected are Presedent - Betty Neevel, vice President - Sharon Rundle, secretary - Carol Anne Van Wieren and press reporter - Patti Down. Also included on the meeting’s agenda were , where a garden should be and how to make a plan according to the location and size of the plants. The meeting was adjourned by Cindy Down afer all the members had viewed Mrs. Down’s hot-bed. FRED BOWDEN CENTRALIA There was a good at­ tendance in the United Church Sunday morning when Bob Heywood and Calvin Horner provided special music for the ser­ vice. Bob sang two solos and the offertory music was an accordion and guitar duet. There were many favourable comments on the quality of their music. Terry Somerville spoke on “The Body, The Temple” and a discussion followed his sermon. For the Mother’s Day service this coming Sunday the special music will be provided by a ladies choir. Personals Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Russell Wilson in the death of her mother the late Mrs. James . Mqrray, Arkona. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Hirtzel attended the con­ firmation of their grandson, Robert Keller, during the Sunday morning service at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in London. Following the service they were guests at the home of .Mr. and Mrs. Karl Keller and family. Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. GIVE MOM ©UR BEST! WILLIAM ROHDE Mrs. William Rohde at­ tended a meeting of the presidents of South Huron United Church Women at Chiselhurst last Thursday evening to plan for the Fall meeting in October. Wilfred Hunkin is a patient in University Hospital London where he is un­ dergoing tests. Miss Debbie Hopkinson, Hamilton spent the week-end with Miss Barbara Miller. The Mission and Service committee of Elimville and Thames Road Churches had a meeting in Thames Road Church Monday evening.
