WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD Little Tim Parker return ed home Friday from a Lon don Hospital after having been a patient there for about a week. We wish him good health. Mr. and Mrs William Rohde accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cottle of Exeter to the Rohde-Scott wedding at First Westminster United Church, London and the reception at the Royal Cana dian Legion, Lucan, Satur day. Miss Sylvia Stewart is finished college at Waterloo and commenced work at GM in London, Monday. Ron Stewart, College at St. Catharines has com menced work at Carlyle. Miss Barbara Miller has completed her year at Guelph College. Miss Diane Hodgert has finished college at Welland. Mrs. Hazel Jeffery was a guest Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Coates, Exeter. United Church Women The May meeting of the United Church Women was held on Monday evening with 27 ladies present. Mrs. Jack Duncan gave the Theme for the meeting “Mother" the Call to Worship service and a poem "Why God Made Mothers”. We sang the hymn "When Mother’s of Salem". A reading "The Most Loved Child" was given by Mrs. George Kellett. Miss Doris Elford gave the Scripture from Proverbs. Mrs. Dun can led in Prayer. Mrs. Barry Jeffery, very capably gave the topic about three different women namely Lois Wilson. Alice Strangway and Angela An drew. Miss Doris Elford received the offering with the offertory prayer given by Mrs. Duncan. A poem "What is a Mother" by Mrs. Kellett and a reading bv Miss Doris Elford. Treasurer’s report, card report, etc. An invitation to Kirkton, May 10 was accepted. Plans were made for housecleaning the church. Some articles were brought in for a bale to be packed in the near future. Group C under the leadership of Mrs. Pym. and Mrs. Floyd Stewart served lunch along with the hostess Mrs. Larry Ballantyne. 4-H garden club This summer Hurondale #1 is taking a 4-H garden club. Our first meeting was held on April 25 at the assis tant leader’s home Laurel Hodgert. At this meeting members agreed to a name Prickly Pears. Cheryl Cann is going to decide on the cover. The leaders Brenda Hodgert and Laurel Hodgert are taking this club. The president is Lori Lynn Stewart with Shirlee Ballan tyne as vice-president. " The secretary is Dianne Ballantyne and Pat Hodgert is the press reporter. In the garden club there are five meetings of which each member grows a gar den of 10 vegetables and four flowers. In the first meeting the girls learned how to plant seeds, transplant the plants and where you should grow them. Dashwood By MRS. IRVIN RADER Dashwood Men’s Club held their dinner meeting Friday with ladies as guests and 92 present. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rumball were presented a cheque from the special relief fund. Jim Swan from C.F.P.L. morning break was guest speaker. Dancing followed. Personals Mr. & Mrs. John de Niet and Tina, Willowdale, were Friday supper guests with Mr. & Mrs. Irvin Rader. They also attended the Bennett-Rader wedding Saturday. Blake Schade, little son of Mr. & Mrs. Bill Schade has returned home from St. Joseph’s Hospital, London. Flowers in the Lutheran Church, Sunday, were from the Bennett-Rader wedding. Mrs. Karen Pedersen has returned home after spen ding several months in Denmark and California with her daughters. ART HODGINS Mrs. Bob Richardson and Debbie of near Wingham spent the weekend with her parents, Mr, & Mrs. Orville Rollings. Amy and Joe Rusywick, Toronto, were weekend guests of Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Millson. Cheryl Lynn, second daughter of Mr, & Mrs. Gerald Lynn is a patient in St. Joseph’s Hospital, London where she improving favourably after a serious illness this past week. Congratulations to Gord and Joanne (McCann) Hardy on the birth of a daughter on Monday, May 1, in St. Joseph’s Hospital, London. The 4-H Homemaking Club Achievement Day ‘ ‘Focus on Living” was held at Parkhill Saturday. Clan deboye Club No. 1 prepared an exhibit “My Favourite Canadian, “Sir John A. Macdonald with com mentator, Michelle Cun ningham. 13 members completed the project. Michelle Cunningham received her County Honours which is completion of six projects, Many thanks to the 4H leaders, Mrs. Ralph Lynn and Mrs. John De Weerd. The fall project will be “Needlepoint.” Mrs. Millson passes Funeral services were held Monday from the Haskett Funeral Home, Lucan, for the late Pearl (Ashbury) Millson. She is survived by her husband Clarence Millson of Clan deboye, a daughter (Ruth) Mrs. Jim Beckett of Kit chener, two sons, Ralph Millson of London and Gerald Millson of Clan deboye. Also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Ser vice was conducted by Rev. Keith Brown assisted by Rev. George Sach Pallbearers were Al Alpress, Ralph Stokoe, Fred Mardlin, Ron Squire, Art Hodgins and Clarence Carter.
