ELIMVILLE - Achievement Day for the 4-H project “Focus on Living" was at South Huron District High School on Saturday and Parents and Friends were in attendance in th6 afternoon. Elimville I presented a skit “Help - I’m Babysitting” and Elimville II presented a skit “First Aid Emergencies. Receiving County Honors were Pearl Bus well, and Margaret Pym - Elimville I and Donna Kerslake and Joan Cooper - Elimville II. Getting Provincial Honors were Sandra Hem - Elim­ ville I and Carol Allen and Mary Johns - Elimville II. Mr. and Mrs. Don Kyle and boys London visited recently in with Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Cooper. Mrs. Howard Pym, Elaine and Margaret, Mrs. Norman Jaques, Mrs. Ross Skinner and Barbara, Mrs. Jake Hovius; Mrs. Ray Jory and Mrs. Ron Parsons attended a shower for Brenda Ball Sunday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ross Veal, Hensall. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Cooper and family and Robert Bray visited Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Ken Lovie, Shipka. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Routly, Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Skinner, Mr. Allen Johns and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Cooper attended the Odd Fellows Church service at Exeter United Church Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Cooper visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Doug Kyle, Hensall. After the church service Sunday at Elimville, everyone enjoyed a film “We were the ones that decided.” It was a special service dealing with the Mission and Service, U.C.W. Meets The Elimville United Church Women held their meeting at the Christian Resource Centre in Mitchell recently. Mrs. Floyd Cooper welcomed everyone and introduced Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mantle who look after the centre. Mrs. Cooper read a poem “The Miracle of Spring” and everyone joined in singing. The president Miss Ruth Skinner presided for the business. The women will cater to the Skinner - Kerslate wedding in June and will help house clean the church this week. The roll call was answered by “A good book I would recommend.” Mr. and Mrs. Mantle sang two duets. A film strip “In the Begin­ ning” was enjoyed. Mrs. Lynn read a porm “Sing a song of Books” after which Mr. Mantle talked about the centre. Everyone enjoyed looking at many of the books that were on display. FRED BOWDEN CENTRALIA Centralia United Church hosted a shower for Miss Karen Somerville, fiancee of Terry Somerville the student minister, Thursday evening. The programme opened with a musical number on the Clarinets by Nancy and Mary Lou Tindall. A sextet of girls sang with Lois Wilson accompanying. The dancing men did several numbers accompanied by Judy Mills. Robbie and Ruthanne Essery played a duet on guitar and piano. Several ladies took part in a skit, “A Ministers’ wife holds her first afternoon tea.” Lois Elliott and Joanne Smythe assisted Karen to • display the gifts. Sunday Service Terry Somerville gave his listeners plenty of food for thought when he dealt with the subject “The Christian Household” in the United Church Sunday morning. The choir sang an anthem and Fay Blair favoured with a solo. This coming Sunday May 7, Bob Heywood will provide special music. Euchre party ; Mr.- and Mrs. Earl Dixon and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Smith were in charge of the euchre party in the Com­ munity Centre Monday night with 13 tables in play. W. McBain at Grimsby last week. Stephen Central School presented a musical comedy “Going West” Wednesday and .Thursday evening, with a senior cast for Wednesday, a junior for Thursday. Costuming and painted backdrop added to the en­ joyment of the well-paced performance which offered fine singing and clearly Voiced spoken parts. Rev. Bruce Pierce was guest pastor at Bethel Reformed Church, Exeter, Sunday evening. As part of the worship service Mrs. Pierce sang a number of her own composition. Personals Senior citizens met Monday in the Community Centre for an afternoon of crokinole and cards followed by lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Vogan, Mrs. Dale Taylor and Shawn, and Mrs. Wayne Brown, Listowel were Sunday visitors with Mrs. Fred Cunnington and in the afternoon all attended a bridal shower for Miss Patricia Bender at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bender, Crediton. Mrs. Minnie Harrison has returned home after visiting at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Don Dixon and family in Hensall. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Powe and Alan attended the Garden City Productions’ presentation “Happy and Glorious” directed by Alan Lund at Brock University, St. Catharines Saturday night. The musical director was Miss Elaine Powe. Murray Abbott was a guest Sunday with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Don Abbott, Little Current, at a dinner party at the Garage Restaurant in London. Byron Cunningham, 26, a former resident of the 4th concession of McGillivray was killed Thursday mor­ ning in a two-vehicle ac­ cident on Concession 2 McGillivray.
