YOU LIGHT UP MY LIFE — Close to 400 people were in attendance at "Fashion Silhouettes"
the annual fashion show sponsored by the Huron Country Playhouse Guild with fashions
supplied this year by Merry Rags of Grand Bend. On the left is Tracy Holmans who wears a

Grand Bend council
Monday night gave their
approval to tentative plans
for the fourth annual Buffalo
Burger Fest.
A delegation from the
Grand Bend Chamber of
Commerce which is again
sponsoring the popular event
told council it would be held
June 16, 17, and 18.
Making the presentation
on behalf of the C of C were
Tom Webster, Nick
Carter and Ron Landrey.
The Chamber members
said several changes are
being made for this year’s
program including activities
which families can par
ticipate in and enjoy.
Permission was granted to
close Main Street from the
Village Inn Retreat corner to
the beach from 12 noon to 5
p.m. on the Saturday.
Activities to take place on
the street while it is closed
will include bed races and
square dancing. A puppet
show is also scheduled.
A refreshment tent will
again be erected on the
beach. Tom Webster said a
change is being made this
year whereby buffalo
burgers may be purchased
without going into the tent
and paying a cover charge.
He continued, *‘We
changed it last year late on
the Friday night when we
heard of the problem.”
Ron Landrey added, "No
minors will be allowed in the
tent after 8 p.m.”
Deputy Reeve Bob
Simpson who suggested
more emphasis should be put
on family participation said,
“a skateboard competition
would be an asset. They are
fantastic.”
Landrey went on to explain
that with the consent of the
Liquor Control Board some
changes would be made in
the refreshment tent. Self
service will be elminated
and waiters will be used to
serve drinks.
In other business, council:
Learned the 1978 tax
requisition from County of
Lambton Board of Education
was $189,858. This was an
increase of about $14,000
from last year.
