Nursery students visit district farm The Sunshine Kids Nur­ sery of Exeter enjoyed a visit to the farm last Wed­ nesday and Thursday morning. John McAllister and his wife Evelyn threw their farm on R.R. 1 Hensall open to escorted tours for the children of the cattle barn and chicken house. The kids were accompanied by their teachers, Mrs. Phyllis Johnston and Mrs. Ruth Mercer and several mothers, and after inspecting the barns they took a walk along beside Black Creek and viewed the water going over the old wooden dam. To complete the outing, the children gathered on the lawn for a lunch of raisins, cookies and apple juice before returning home. Should be ready “Our Calling” was the subject of Reverend Don Beck’^ sermon on Sunday, April 30, at the Hensall United Church. In the early chtfrch, all were workers spreading the “word”, should still be ready and prepared to be used, sup­ ported by worshipping, praying, learning, serving and witnessing together. Never neglect spiritual gif ts- we are God’s “Chosen People.” The choir, led by Mrs. Marianne McCaffrey and with Mrs. Mary Moffat at the organ sang the anthem, “Jubilate” with the solo parts taken by Linda Ger- stenkorn and Laurie Pepper. Unit four will be meeting today at 2:30 p.m. Will have ARC speaker The Grandmother’s meeting of the Hensall Women’s Institute will be held in the Legion Hall at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10 when Mr. Ron Heimrich of A.R.C. Many com­ pliments on the supper were received. The committee would like to thank all who helped in any way to make it such a success. Athletic fund raising The Hensail Minor Athletic Association are holding a series of fund-raising events to raise the necessary money for their up-coming season of sports for the young people of Hensall. Elections for 1978-79 took place with the following taking office. President, Mrs. Sharon Doxtator; secretary, Mrs. Donna St. John; treasurer, Mrs. Debbie Regier. The Kinettes decided to hold their Spring Rummage Sale on Thursday evening, May 25, in the new arena in Hensall. Following the business, a Chinese auction was held raising $12. Lunch was served by the hostess. Pack bale The ladies of St. Paul’s Anglican Church met on elect new officers Be Cool this Summer! I Thursday in the church basement to pack a bale for the north. Following that activity, a short meeting was held. The meeting opened with the'Member’s Prayer, and the scripture was re,ad; Mrs. George A. Anderson closed with the Grace. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Sam Oesch were visited by their grandson and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bell of Clinton last Thursday. Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Payne last Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Primeau and Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Johnston of Seaforth, Mr. and Mrs. William Erb of Sebringville, Mr. and Mrs. Hank Binnendyk of Kippen and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Johns of Exeter. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Scane attended the wedding of their niece, Anne Clarke to Erik Petterson at Trinity Anglican Church, Thornhill on Saturday and the reception following at the Thornhill Golf and Country Club. Mrs. Hazel Luther who spent the winter months with her son and daughter-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Eric Luther and her son-in-laW Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Slade and family left Saturday for Halifax and St. John where she will .visit for a few weeks prior to taking up residence in her home on the Bay. Mrs. Pearl Shaddick who spent the winter months in Florida returned to her home here Friday. Margaret Hyde, London was a weekend visitor with her parents Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Hyde. It is also hoped to hold a dance at the new Community Centre on June 10. It is hoped that Hensall and District citizens will support these worthwhile projects. Watch for advertising. Carmel W.M.S. Mrs. Harvey Hyde, president of the W.M.S. presided at the May meeting and opened with a poem “Housecleaning”. Mrs. Malcolm Dougall had the devotional program “Bibles and Libels” giving an outline of the work of the Gideon Society and the Bible Society. An invitation was accepted from the Lutheran Church, Zurich to be their guests May 9. The Spring Presbyterial Rally will be held in Hensall May 17 at 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Rochus Faber gave a report on the Synodical held recently at Leamington.
