Fortunately the married young couple of London, who were the oc­ cupants' were wearing their seat-belts and were not in­ jured. Damage to their vehicle was a few hundred dollars. Blowouts of two of the practically new radial tires was the cause. Mr. & Mrs. Seibourne English have been visiting with the latter’s sisters in and around Cornwall this past week. Success marked the dance at the Parkhill Community Centre Saturday evening sponsored by the management of the Corbett Community Centre. Viola Curts, London, was a weekend visitor at the home of Evelyn and Manuel Curts. Several from here offered their best wishes to Mr. & Mrs. Ken MacGregor at their home on Sunday, the occasion being their 40th wedding anniversary. A family dinner was held at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Ken Isaac, Sunday. Birthday anniversaries have a habit of coming once a year. Mr. & Mrs. Jeff Young, Oxnard, California, and their nephew and niece, Oakville, Ontario, were Saturday visitors here. Mrs. Young is the former Jean Russell, a granddaughter of Mr. & Mrs. W. J. Wilson, early pioneers in this area. n * Mrs. Harold Brophey, retiring choir leader in the United Church, was honoured by the junior and senior choirs at a social gathering held in the churcn Friday evening. Mrs. Brophey completed 17 years of continuous service. Palmer, St. Catharines in memory of Mrs. Palmer’s mother and brother the late Mrs. George Hepburn and Jack Hepburn. There were flowers in memory of the late Mrs. Arthur (Rose) McFalls a former, resident of the village. Reverend Harley Moore of Grand Bend met Sunday evening in the Centralia United Church with representatives from the Centralia and Zion West Congregations to appoint a pastoral relations committee to find a replacement for Terry Somerville who will be leaving in May. This coming Sunday during the School service a special “Compassion Children’s programme” with slides and comments will be presented by Miss Karen Somerville. A good attendance is requested Mr. and Mrs. Matt Konrad, Dundas were Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. S. Molnar and attended the Sunday morning church service. Senior citizens are reminded of the meeting in the Community Centre Monday afternoon. You are reminded of the change in time Saturday night when we move our clocks ahead one hour. Mrs. Hargreaves spent the day with Mrs. Moore. The flowers in the church Sunday were placed there in memory of the late William Passmore. The sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs. Jennie Parsons and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Passmore and their families. The May meeting of the United Church Women will be held Monday evening May 1 at 8 p.m. Don’t forget the Sunday services will be on Daylight Saving Time. The Tweedsmuir History committee was in charge of the program and had a display of the scrap books belonging to the late Mr. Harvey Langford, those of Mrs. John Park, Mrs. Harvey Langford and and old account book now belonging to Mrs. Wm. Froats, as well as having the “Tweedsmuir History” and scrapbooks on view. The meeting had been planned by Mrs. Frank Hardy Sr. and was carried through for her by her assistant Mrs. M.H. Hodgins. A paper was read by Mrs. Jim Lockyer on how the Tweedsmuir Village Histories came into existence Mrs. Hodgins gave the history of the Branch from 1909-77.
