Mrs. Campbell has also been in volved in assisting in the program since the begin ning. Mrs. Durand remembers the first year in 1952 when about 15 youngsters par ticipated in a Saturday afternoon program. The program started to grow in 1954 and reached its peak a few years later with as many as 175 par ticipating each weekday afternoon after school and Saturday mornings. The number of youthful bowlers dropped to 61 this year with competition only Saturday mornings. Other adults contributing greatly to the minor bowling program over the years are Mary Holtzmann, Agnes Appleton and Grace Far quhar. Two others who came up through the program and are now assisting are Bev Beirling and Larry Stire. One of the most important ingredients in a minor bowl ing program according to Mrs. Durand are adult scorekeepers. She said, “They really help in encouraging the youngsters, keep their minds on the game and keep them keyed up. Every team that won a championship this year had adults to record the scores. sitting of the I earn There’s seldom room at the top ladder. * * * I look forward, time. I look forward. I utilize time.
