Games, contests and a “Fashion Show” was held and enjoyed by all 25 women present. Afterwards, the business session was held. Plans for the Beef Bar-B-Q next week were finalized, a car load of members ac­ cepted the invitation to Goshen U.C.W. on Wed­ nesday, and the dates for Westminster weekend and Alma College Conference werebroughtto the attention of all. Articles for the auction sale on June 3 are required and unit two is to be responsible for the bake sale that day. A letter from the Catholic Women’s League regarding the recommended English literature books, with ex­ cerpts, was read and members decided to send letters of protest about these books to Thomas Wells, the minister of education, Jack Riddell, our M.P.P., the school board and school principals. To conclude the evening, a dainty lunch was served. On Thursday workmen were busy erecting walls for the various offices and rooms that will be located forward of the hall. The programme, which was in charge of Mrs. Robert Simpson and Miss Greta Lammie, consisted of a sing­ song and slides taken by Mrs. Simpson (some from old photographs) of family groups, family homes and local beauty spots illustrating how such snapshots can become df historical value in the years to come. President, Mrs. Cecil Pepper, presided over the meeting, opening with a poem, “Lifting and Leaning.” The financial report showed a balance of $159.26. The officers were installed by Huron South District President, Mrs. James Drummond. Correspondence covered the Summary Day for the Huron County course, “Personalize your Pattern” to be held at Ontario Street United Church, Clinton, on Tuesday; Achievement Days for the girls’ 4-H Clubs “Focus on Living” - for Hensall girls it is at Seaforth on May 27. There will be an historical meeting held in Kippen on May 9 and a bus trip is being arranged to Elmira and Elora; the Huronview auxiliary will be holding their Blossom Tea on May 31 and the Institute is asked to contribute one dozen muffins or tea biscuits. Mrs. Drummond brought greetings from Huron South District and added words of appreciation for being in­ vited to attend the meeting. The May meeting will be “Grandmothers night” - each member to invite a grandmother and something worn by wear GRADUATES Susan Luther graduated April 14, 1978 from the Ontario Police College, Aylmer, Ontario. She has been a Policewoman with the Waterloo Regional Police Force since January 1977. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Luther, Hensall, grandmother. A report of the spring board meeting held on April 4 was given by Mrs. James McAllister. Old, unwanted “Home and Country” magazines to be collected at the May meeting to give away at the Inter­ national Plowing Match in September. The county Tweedsmuir book is to be microfilmed and put into another cover and the R. K. Phone 482-7T 03 James 'First you see the ending' topic About people you know * “First you see the ending” was the subject of the ser­ mon at Hensall United Church on Sunday, when Reverend Don Beck con­ ducted the service. Jesus’ resurrection was the end of His earthly life but the beginning of His kingdom on earth. God won over Satan on both Good Friday and Easter Sunday so when we become Christians we know the end when we are beginning the life with Christ. Mr. & Mrs. Joe Flynn returned home after spen­ ding the winter months with Marianne McCaffrey con­ ducted the choir who sang the anthem, “The Lord’s my Shepherd”. Area couple mark event Mr. & Mrs. Jack Corbett celebrated their 45th wed­ ding anniversary on Saturday evening when they entertained the members of their family to a dinner at the Pineridge Chalet. Those attending were Mr. & Mrs. Ross Corbett and sons, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Chaffe and family, Mitchell, Mr. & Mrs. Al Corbett and family, Mrs. Blanche conducted Carmel Church on their daughter and son-in- law and family Mr. & Mrs. Don Avery in Deerfield Park, Florida. Rev. Fox service in Presbyterian Sunday, his sermon was taken from the Acts of the Apostles and he will deliver a series of sermons from this book of the Bible. The flowers in the church were placed in loving memory of the late Mr. Edgar Munn by his family. Ron Doiron, RR 3 Exeter, has purchased the property of Mr. & Mrs. Don McCurdy, Main Street. Mr. & Mrs. McCurdy and family have taken up residence on a farm near Centralia. Mrs. Doris Bonthron of London spent several days last week at the home of her son and daughter-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Bevan Bonthron. Mrs. Blanche Chapman, London was a weekend visitor with her brother-in- law and sister Mr. & Mrs. Jack Corbett. Jerry Smith has returned home from University Hospital, Lbndon, where he was a patient last w.e.ek Julie Mock is a patient in Toronto General Hospital. We wish her a speedy recovery. Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Veldhoen, Mike and Chris, of Toronto visited with Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobol on Saturday and also with Mr. & Mrs. Don Dodds and family of Seaforth.
