Ladies high score, Mrs Georgina Webster; lone hands, Mrs. Earl Dixon; low, Mrs. Evan Hodgins. Men’s high, Roy Swartz; lone hands, Dick Noels; low, Chas. Hendy. Even score, Mrs. Lawrence Hirtzel; lucky cup, Albert Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dixon, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Smith will convene the next party. Former Centralia resident passes A large number from this Community called at the Stephenson Funeral Home, Ailsa Craig to pay respect to the late Mrs. Arthur McFalls, a former highly esteemed resident of Cen­ tralia. The deceased who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Phil (Nish) Johnson was lovingly cared for by her family through a lengthly illness. Sympathy is extended to the family in the bereavement. Murray Abbott received word of the death of Mrs. Esther Abbott of Michigan, widow of the late Laverne Abbott. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins returned home last week after spending the past three months in Mexico. Mrs. Lome Hicks has returned home following a trip to Bermuda. She was accompanied on the trip by her friend Miss. Margaret Plaskett, Guelph. Saturday Mrs. Hicks was a guest at the Walden McCreath wedding in Ripley. Smith Mrs. Joyce Black Manager Accountant Greenway ladies get commendation By MANUEL CURTS GREENWAY “It is so good to know that people do care.” These were the words written in a letter of appreciation from Mrs. Lorna McChestney, Senior Adjuvant at Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy, to the Women of the United Church here. For the past few weeks articles have been ac­ cumulating at the church for the use of the handicapped and emotionally ill folk at the Lodge. One day last week they were delivered and as the thank you letter indicates were very much ap­ preciated. Although magazines are now in plentiful supply, other articles such as greeting cards, ribbons jewelery, nylons, styrofoam egg cartons, quilt patches and bread ties are worth saving for a future delivery. U.C.W. Meet Mrs. (Rev.) Harley Moore was hostess for the April meeting of the United Church Women. Evelyn Curts led in the opening worship service, choosing as her theme, “Hands.” For the study of the Caribbean, Miss Curts in­ troduced Mrs. Betsy Bark­ man, Parkhill, who presented a most interesting illustrated message of the life and work and need in Haiti. The president, Mrs. Olive Horner, chaired the meeting for the business session. Those present answered the roll call with a verse on spring. Mrs. Harvey Walper assisted serving coffee at meeting. Anglican The ladies of Grace Anglican Church held a successful dessert euchre in their hall, last Wednesday afternoon. There were eight tables at play. The high scorer was Mrs. Alwinna Galloway, and the low, Floyd Enright. Mrs. Olive Horner captured the door prize.
